Happy Friday!
The kids have decided on a quiet day today so I will be getting some stuff done around the house. DH has sold another two items so they are packed and posted. It's nice that his sales have picked up! It also means the packaging mountain is reducing as well, so it shouldn't be too much longer before it all fits back in the cupboard under the stairs.
I've updated my finances, including my pensions. I've only got 3 years left to contribute for a full state pension so that's good. Unfortunately thanks to the orange numpty, my AVC pot is currently less than I have put in 😡 hopefully that will bounce back in the not too distant future!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". It's a shame they don't run more aquafit classes. We have the same issue locally. Fun class to do but only at dinner times and always overbooked.
Well done on sorting the pensions. I'm sure everything will recover eventually. I have 100 in shares. No real idea what I'm doing other than I can choose low medium or high risk. I'm in high risk. It went as low as 12 pounds the other day now it's hovering at £92. And good news on the state pension. Feels reassuring that you've almost ticked the box!Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

That's good news. I've just had another look at mine, and it's recovered a bit but still around £5 less than I've contributed. Hopefully now it will keep going!in_need_of_direction said:My pension pot has started a tiny recovery.
Yes, I'd like to see them run more classes, there's obviously a demand!NeverendingDMP said:It's a shame they don't run more aquafit classes. We have the same issue locally. Fun class to do but only at dinner times and always overbooked.

That's a whirlwind with your shares! I've no idea what I'm doing either. I think I'm partly in a green fund and partly in their recommended fund. I should be more proactive, but I don't know what to choose.
It's really nice to know I've nearly 'earnt' the full state pension. It gives more freedom around what I choose to do in the future."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee4 -

I would just like to be able to access a swimming pool without needing 2 buses or a taxi .3

We've had a busy few days socialising so I'm all peopled out at the moment. A quiet day planned today before heading back to work tomorrow, only for 2 days though, so not too painful!
It's a shame that the lovely weather has ended. We're in a weather warning for rain today. I know the ground will need it, but why can't it be sunny in the day and rain at night 😆
DH had a good few sales at the weekend, so that made a nice dent in the packaging pile. I need to have a look and see if I can get it all back in the cupboard now.
He still hasn't had any word from his work despite the business clearly winding down. It's frustrating as it means he can't apply for anything as he doesn't know an end date. There's no point in leaving without that redundancy payment! He's obviously quite worried about what's next. It's a relief to know that we are in a position that we can cope for a little bit if need be."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Ours aren't nearby either, so if I was needing public transport it would be two buses and I'm not sure how close the buses go.ladyholly said:I would just like to be able to access a swimming pool without needing 2 buses or a taxi ."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I bought them in a moment of madness when I had a surplus and thought 100 quid. High risk go for it. Someone at work once told me once to put pension in medium risk unless you fully understand but want it to grow then in the last years before retirement put them in low risk to maintain your money. Don't follow my advice though ask someone who knows properly 😂 everytime mine goes a fair bit over 100 I withdraw the difference to an investment account (no idea what to do with that either) ive got 13 quid in that so I've kind of made a profit-maybe. My pensions are wherever the pension people put themjwil said:
