    Happy Sunday!

I'm about to nip off to the supermarket.  Annoyingly when I went on Friday so that I wouldn't have to go over the weekend, I forgot that little jwil was cooking tomorrow.  He had told me and given me a list, so it's my fault!

I've completed my gold sw exercise award this morning :)

I've also been in the kitchen having a sort out.  I've emptied and recycled all of my spices, most were dated around 2009 😱  Shows what an exotic cook I am :D:D  I'll buy them as and when needed now.  I've also sorted through the cutlery drawer.  I think I'm safe to get rid of the toddler cutlery now 🙄  I have about a million teaspoons and I don't know why.  I'll probably take some to work.  Our cutlery came out of a proper set, and there are bits that I don't use (soup spoons and mini forks).  If I don't use them now (we've had the cutlery set 15+ years now), I'll never use them.  But I find it hard to get rid of them because they are part of a set!  Does anyone else have silly little blockages like that for getting rid of things?  I'm never going to sell it as a set, so why is it so hard!!

A cutlery set is the sort of thing they used to give for wedding presents. I got a very expensive one but I didn't like it. I didn't like the person who gave it either so it was easy for me to regift to the CS. I know, ruthless!
    Enjoy your Sunday

Spices will keep much longer than that if you keep them in the dark & dry, not in one of those stands on the worktop.  I have some from the late 80s.

I suspect we inherited this one, it's really nice cutlery.  I'd have no problem if it was getting rid of a whole set, it just feels wrong breaking it up!

I don't use them.  They were in a cupboard just taking up much needed space.  There's no point in keeping them any longer!

I didn't know they were pastry forks - thank you!  There's no point, I'd just use a normal fork if needed.  I'm not posh :D  I've put them out!

I've put the spoons and forks out along with the toddler cutlery.  We also don't need loads of medicine spoons so have just kept a couple.  I've got rid of a couple of utensils that I don't use either, or that I have duplicates of.

The herbs and spices are all gone, and that cupboard is much better now.  I can actually see the things I do use and reach them better without knocking everything out of the cupboard when I try and get something.

It's encouraging me to get back to decluttering more.  I want to be more ruthless and stop keeping things just in case, particularly if they wouldn't cost a lot to buy if I really needed one.  I have quite a bit of stuff that I've kept for either 'just in case' or because I think I should.  Herbs and spices as an example - I don't like cooking, I don't have a lot of space to cook, I don't have a lot of time to cook, and the kids and DH aren't particularly adventurous with food.  If I see a recipe with a million ingredients I turn the page, however nice it looks. It might not be particularly MSE or healthy, and I'll probably get kicked off this site for saying it  but if I want a sauce or something that needs lots of ingredients I'd rather buy one than make my own.  It actually does turn out to be MSE because that way I don't waste food through not getting round to it, and don't waste money on things I don't use.

I might dig out my Marie Kondo books and have another read.  I need to go back to the beginning and think about how I really want to spend my spare time and what I want to be doing.  I think we all know that I'd like to be beside the sea, in the countryside or sitting somewhere with a book!  So therefore I want to surround myself with stuff that makes me feel good, and not things that I feel like I 'should' be doing.

My biggest disposal problem was somehow landing up with 6 carving knives.

Some really good decluttering. I like the bit about thinking what you want to be doing...The 'shoulds' are energy sapping

Sleeping well is part of the reason why we have separate bedrooms. The other is him being largely nocturnal so he doesnt disturb me when he goes to bed any time between about 2am and after I get up in the morning.
