The trouble with buying at the beginning of the holidays I used to find was that the kids seemed to have a growth spurt in August!!!

Hi @jwil, sometimes we just need a quiet day to recharge our batteries. Sorry to read about the problems with the car, fingers crossed it will get fixed.  So good that supermarkets now stock school uniforms.  Many years ago,  school uniform could only be bought from a particular retailer and the prices reflected this. Wishing you a lovely weekend.

I've always been lucky enough to avoid that

Thank you, I'm hoping it's not too horrendous with the car.  It's definitely good to get the uniform from supermarkets, just buying the branded stuff is expensive enough!

Those specialist shops though used to be only for what were then High & grammar schools.  Not for what were then secondary schools (now high schools) & not for primary schools.  Some academies are using very high cost uniforms plus wanting/expecting money for just about anything as a way of keeping some out of their schools.  I'll shut up now cos I know some do not agree.  But the original idea of uniforms in secondary schools was to avoid the "we can afford stuff with logos & you can't" scenario which was becoming serious.

I lost another 3lb this morning and got SOTW again!  I wasn't expecting that. After group DH and the kids picked me up and we headed to the seaside for a couple of hours, so that was lovely.  DH's car seems to be playing up a bit too, that's the last thing we need!  Hopefully it will last ok until mine is fixed.

Well done on slimmer of the week and having a good blood pressure reading. The seaside sounds lovely. Cars sound a bit not so lovely. Fingers crossed DH car was just having a moment and is okay from now on.
