Anyone else had their Creation credit card cancelled without explanation?

  • It's clear that Creation don't really want customers who pay off their balance every month. I had the same email but I now have the Santander Edge credit card so most spending goes on that now. The Santander card is £3 per month but 2% cashback up to £15 each month for the first year. I think you have to have a Santander current account for that though.

I just wonder whether other card providers will close accounts that are not sufficienly profitable for them or will start introducing a monthly fee for cards that were previously free if paid off each month. .

Exactly the same email here. Typical corporate attitude though - send you an email which makes you think that you have done something wrong  and it is your fault they have stopped your credit card. If they are indeed exiting the market it would have been nice if they had said "thank you for your business over the years but we are closing your credit card for our own business reasons." Pigs might fly!
  • Yes had my email yesterday was told that they are withdrawing cards
but credit score will be told but it’s nothing I have done
  • I've also had my card cancelled under section 14, paid the total outstanding each month by direct debit so couldn't understand what I might have wrong that Creation want to terminate my agreement! Thank you everyone posting on this site as I now appreciate it's not just me.
  • Yeah same email from them! Looks like they are withdrawing their own branded cards, as you cannot apply for a new one, so I guess the only customers they have are people that used to have IHG or other discontinued loyalty schemes / credit cards.

  • Got exactly the same email yesterday. Usual thing about responsible lender etc etc. I’ve never missed a payment and been active on the account. So no idea what is going on and no other explanation other than under the terms clause 14. Annoying to say the least
  • They're clearing purging accounts with a certain pattern of use. My account has existed since 2017, used almost every month, always paid in full / on time and a high proportion of foreign currency transactions. Sounds familiar?

They started their email with something about being a responsible lender. I've asked for an explanation but not holding out much hope. I'm sure I can get the features I need from someone else.
