Sunday salutations turtles!
We've had a weekend mostly at home which I have really enjoyed. Only OH and DS have travelled far - 5 miles - to go to football training. The three of us travelled 1 mile to a local restaurant for dinner last night. It was excellent.
Today is NSD 10! I was nearly spending on another game for DS's Sproutmas, until I remembered that Mum had asked me for an idea on what to get him... yes, I bumped the cost on to my dear Mum.
When I spoke to her this morning she told me she had fainted in the early hours when up for the bathroom and that she felt scared because she is on her own. Totally understandable - I would have been too. OH and I have parents approaching mid-sixties and 70s, and I worry about them, sometimes I feel desperately sad about them getting older. I need to remind myself that , right now, all is well. We're all here, we're all relatively healthy. If you have any words of wisdom turtles, please share.
Grateful today that Mum is feeling ok now, that I finished creating DS's advent calendar (25 individual Sproutmas riddles, facts, crafts, challenges and treats), for a relaxed family film this afternoon, and for OH making an excellent pizza for dinner.

ldee, would you consider getting your mum one of those alarms you wear round your neck?Today I am grateful for a much warmer day, for spending time with lovely people, for a fab chat with big sis, for ordering a curtain pole to put up my vntd curtains and gain some privacy at the back of the house, for Pip's friend's dad dropping him home after the cinema.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7

@ldee2111 I think we all have these worries of our parents aging. I know I certainly do. It’s the realisation that one day they may not be there, which is so scary. We can only remind ourselves to live in the present and enjoy them while they are here and we are able to create memories with them. You are extremely lucky to have such an amazing bond and love in your life. Remember to tell them how much you appreciate them and love them as often as you can.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827

Well done on getting your exam done @Shrewbie. Good luck for your interview @KajiKita.

The snow/ice has gone today 🎉 it did look nice though.
Been a busy week. Lots of sewing done in the evenings after the day job. Spent Thursday night at mum's, it would've been her sister's 80th birthday & it's the first birthday since her passing in spring. Bought her a big bunch of colourful flowers, we had a Chinese (her treat) & we watched more of a series together & knitted.
Last night I started a quilled picture for a friend's upcoming birthday present. Trying to be organised! Another friend gave me a pile of cyshions, so I've added some to the ones on the settee, saving some for the future, & some can be used as toy stuffing. She also gave me some artificial flowere, etc for Christmas decorations & her 3rd spare pair of expensive hair straighteners!
Went for a 5 mile walk with DH this morning, spent the afternoon & evening sewing (currently have a MASSIVE pile). Picked DS3 up from town in the middle of it.
Grateful for a good weekend, better weather today, a good few days at work, discovering that our nativity play is being shown on my birthday, getting things ticked off my listUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Yesterday and today were spend free so now on NSD #8. I’ve spent some time this weekend doing a bit of financial planning for next year, decluttered some items round the house, written 80% of my cards for the December day that must not be named 😜 , babysat my two littlest nieces most of the day yesterday and watching a bit of TV here and there. DB1 has annual leave from his work so will be doing more decluttering during the week as we have a tip run booked for Friday.
Grateful for lovely time spent with nieces, getting rid of more unwanted items out of the house and being a bit clearer on what I’ll be doing with my money in 2025.8 -
Today will be an NSD as it would be very difficult / impossible to get anywhere to spend. Due to the heavy rain over the last 48 hours, our town, (and the surrounding ones, and the bits in between), is flooded. Our road is dry, luckily - we are on a hill, but it is a bit like being on an island, with all the roads to anywhere closed due to flooding. The power went off for several hours yesterday evening / night but it is back on now.Today I will make a stew, do a load of washing as it isn't supposed to rain, do the ironing and some cleaning. Not exciting, but might as well make the most of an enforced day at home.9

Mr and Mrs Builder have been in touch and asked if they can start on the first week in January. It won't be done for Christmas (once we are in November it is okay to say Christmas - no elves will be shot although I think it should be open season on Will Farrell) but should be done by my birthday. I've promised to try and get as much out as possible and Mrs Builder says she will come and help on some of the weekends (their non-working days). Now I just have to get DS3 and Beloved on board with making the house as pleasant as possible until January.12 -
