@Shrewbie good luck for your exam!
Checking in quickly before I start work for the afternoon. Today is sample sale day at work, and I must admit I haven't been good. I didn't spend much, but I did spend, and I bought several things for myself and other people. They are mainly fancy toiletries, but this is it. I will definitely not need to buy anything apart from food and transport until the end of the year, and probably beyond. I know it sounds bad, but in my mind spending 2 pounds for a body wash which retails at almost 20 times that price is a good investment. And I always have plenty to gift friends and family, for any occasion or no occasion at all, and that makes me happy.
So today was not a NSD day, but tomorrow it will definitely be.
Yesterday it almost was, I brought lunch to work, didn't even buy any coffee or snack, and then before taking the train I remembered I had crochet club at the pub, so I bought a pack of mince pies for the ladies. They actually really enjoyed them, so at least it was worth losing my NSD, which I would have lost anyway for the drink I have to purchase at the pub.
Tonight is line dancing, that is, if I arrive home in time, as trains haven't been exactly reliable with the weather.
Today I am grateful for the sample sale, my lovely colleague, and having had a generally more cheerful day in the office than I usually do (the general vibe is very light and friendly).

Hope the exam goes well @Shrewbie !Still NSD #7 as today was shopping day. Apart from a birthday card, I shouldn't need to buy anything else until next week.Got a GP appointment after shopping. She had no more idea of what my strange leg pains might be than I have, but referred me for blood tests, prescribed codeine and said to go back if it gets any worse. I have work tomorrow, which entails being on my feet all day, so that will be interesting - although walking and standing don't seem to be any more painful than sitting or lying down to be honest.Anyway, this afternoon I have been sorting out the L*dl veg box I got this morning. I had to throw some bits out, but had a swede, most of a punnet of plums, some cos lettuce, chillies, red peppers, coriander, potatoes and onions. I have cooked and mashed the swede, roasted the plums, and made the red peppers, which were a bit soft, into soup with tinned tomatoes, elderly spring onions, a couple of potatoes and some garlic. I was undecided for ages about buying a soup maker, as I can make good soup with a pan and a blender, but went for it as my blender is on its last legs. I am so glad I did, as it is so easy to chuck in any bendy veg and soup is ready in less than half an hour.I have a rice pudding in the oven to use up the end bit of last week's cream, and when that comes out of the oven, I will make up a game pie for dinner tomorrow night and Friday. I already have the filling and pastry prepped in the fridge, so it won't take long.Tonight's dinner is pasta with tomato sauce from the freezer. We are supposed to be going to a pub quiz this evening, which I could do without in all honesty, but can't let the team down.Grateful today for a prompt response from the GP.7

Today was not a NSD as I had to go to the dentist because I thought a filling had fallen out. Turns out a bit of the filling had broken off, so instead of taking it all out, they stuck a temporary one over the broken off bit. £26 and all of 10 minutes in and out. So went to leedl and scored a veg box and breakfast cereal = £6 and went to Aldee for pickles/ crackers/not-poptarts and salad bits = £15
Individual shepherds pies in ceramic dishes for kids for supper - using up the leftover mash and veg from yesterday's meal, and will do pie and chips for me & DH when he gets back from his evening class.
Should not need to buy anymore food before next week. Frugal fingers crossed 🤞.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

¡Suerte! Shrewbie!Today I am grateful for Pip going to school (that's becoming quite a regular one. I kept him off on Monday and he had a 5 hour nap 🤣), for getting a good long walk in, for bumping into a neighbour, for a warm house, for sorting out another box of stuff.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

Ooo isn’t it cold?!? 🥶 I find this weather and this time of year really difficult as I hate being cold and the dark days.@DawnW I absolutely love my soup maker. I use it weekly to make my work lunches and I look forward to the soup each day. So easy to use and convenient- 20 minutes and you have hot soup ready to eat.Nsd #13 today. Getting lots of Black Friday emails today but said ‘no’ to spending any money today. Had a look through some of the deals and made a bit of a plan for spends at the weekend to make the most of deals.I am so grateful for a house with heating today. I feel sorry for anyone not in that fortunate position as this weather is painful. Also grateful for my warm dressing gown which is my go to when I am cold.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827

NSD 8.Grateful for a more productive workday than yesterday, for central heating and cosy throws, for an easy freezer dinner (batch made chilli), for V!ntD purchase arriving and being just what I was looking for (faux leather skirt for Sproutmas nights out. Bonus was it was brand new with labels on, from Monsoon and only cost me £11 including delivery!) and for having time this evening to play a game with DS and OH.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6

Tuesday was a NSD for me. I’ve lost count of my NSDs (due to aging brain rather than the vast number).
i made up for the NSD today though, with my annual purchase of 5 personalised Christmas Tree decorations. I’m sure they didn’t cost me £60 last year 😱 Funds for the decs come out of my budget for each family member, but I’m going to have to tweak the budget or borrow from Peter to pay Paul within the allotted total. Thankfully the youngest grandchildren won’t miss their selection boxes. My adult children love their named and dated decs, so they’re not something I could miss out. One grown-up sent a heavy hint with a WhatsApp pic of the decs from the last three years 😄 she’s put her tree up already and there’s an empty branch waiting for 2024.MBNA 237.47/13997.47

What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. (L Ellis)6 -
NSD #6 today. Today has been a fairly quiet day just trying to relax, catching up on some recordings on $ky+ planner and I sewed up a jumper I made. Am quite proud of this because, although I have knitted many jumpers, my mum always used to sew them up (as she was far quicker and neater than me) so this is the first one I have completely sewn up myself. It fit as well, doesn’t look twisted and has no holes, so I’m pretty happy with it, and I’ve proved to myself that I can do it.
Gratitudes today are successfully sewing up my new jumper, being able to have a quiet and relatively relaxing day (though DB1 has many plans for his week off next week so was instructing me on what we will be doing 😱😂) and for leftovers for dinner tonight, so something nice and easy.
Sending hugs and best wishes to all who want them and good luck Shrewbie for your exam.9 -
@Betharooni - I have started taking crocheting and knitting class. Some of the members have taken the classes long enough to make jumpers. That is my goal. I think it is wonderful that you made one and were able to sew it up yourself. Congratulations!9

I’m so impressed by the number of handy turtles that have knitting, crocheting, and sewing skills on here. Sadly I am not very talented when it comes to any of these.NSD 9 today
Grateful today for getting along to a parent and child activity at DS’s school, for a delicious dinner partially made by OH until he burned his hand and I took over, and for DS doing well at his swimming lessons and getting moved up a level.NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸6
