I use the Schwartz cheese sauce mix @maman.  I make it in the microwave - it only takes 3-4 minutes to thicken nicely.  I always add a bit of mustard powder as well.  The mix is 7 syns for the pack.  Colmans are 8 syns for the pack but I don't think it thickens as well.

I tried making the cheese sauce with cauliflower @bubbs but didn't find it thickened very well but it might just have been me I suppose!

Denise, did you lift the cauli out when you boiled it? I literally whizz the cooked cauli it's thick, if it's too thick add a bit of the stock from cooking it

Morning all, it's extremely windy this morning and dry so think it might be worth doing another machine load of washing as I think it will dry.

@bubbs - yes I did but suspect there was still too much water on it.  Will have to try it again at some stage but not until cauliflowers are a bit cheaper!  My DD2 said that Lidl had some good sized ones for 99p this week but haven't managed to get over there and they certainly weren't that cheap in Aldi, Tesco, Morrisons or the farm shop!

I weighed this morning and it's another 0.5lb off this week so it's slowly coming down but still got a couple of lbs left to get back to top end of target.  If it carries on at this rate I might, just might, get back to top end before Christmas!

    Today's plan:

    B - porridge, defrosted strawberries, blueberries and cherries - HEB; S; F
L - lentil and veg soup made with the gammon stock (from freezer) - P; S; F
    D - butter chicken, rice, mango chutney - P; S; F; 3

    HEA - milk
    HEB - porridge
    Syns - 0.5 Tbs butter 1.5; mango chutney 1.5?

    Have a good day everyone.

Hello everyone. Joedenise suggested I pop on here as I just joined Slimming World yesterday!

I’ve got 2st 5lb to lose and for anyone who’s not “met” me before, I love cooking (and, alas, eating), I’m in my mid-30s and married with two young children aged 8 and 5. I work 32 hours a week at a busy corporate job (3 days from home, 2 in the office, and finish at 2.30 or 3pm each day for school run). So I’m pretty busy and despite being part time I definitely struggle to get extra exercise in - I do usually get a decent amount of steps in though! So I need to tackle the food/diet side given I don’t have lots of time or motivation to do workouts.

    Today’s food so far:

    Breakfast
    Porridge - HEB
    Whole milk - HEA
    Apple - S
    Cinnamon
    2 tsp brown sugar - 2 syns

    Lunch
    Baked potato in air fryer
    Baked beans
    30g cheddar - HEA
Side salad of cucumber, tomato, coriander, red onion, lemon juice & salt - S

  • Hi. Just an update that I meant to post yesterday.
I’ve had a strange week where meals have been grabbed on the run, snacks have been scoffed and syns haven’t been counted.
I have however, dodged a bullet and managed to lose 1lb. I have a feeling that it might come back to bite me on the derrière next week but for now, I’ll take it.
life is a bit strange at the moment but it will return to normal soon - I hope 🤞🏻🤞🏻
@bubbs, your food is always such an inspiration when I look at the pics. Thank you for the regular photos that remind me about my speed xx

Glad to see you decided to join us @Bluegreen143.  Welcome to the thread.

Your lunch looks lovely with plenty of Speed.  What are you having for dinner tonight?

Are you going to use your 2nd HEA for milk in drinks?

Are you like @maman and me and like to use your syns for wine, particularly at the weekend?

  • We’re having a chicken and veg stir fry with rice, I did use both my HEA already - milk in my porridge and cheese at lunch. I don’t drink hot drinks which helps! I don’t like coffee, and only occasionally have tea but I drink it black.

And I’ve saved enough Syns for 2 glasses of Prosecco tonight 🙈

  • Chicken and veg stir fry

    Chicken
    Rice
Peppers, mushroom, onion, broccoli, garlic, spring onion - S
    Soy sauce & chicken stock

Plus 1.5 syns for 1/2tsp cornflour and 1tbsp hoisin sauce.

I’m going to save so much money on olive oil, which I normally go through super quickly 🤣🙈. I used a non stick pan and just wiped it with some olive oil on a bit of kitchen towel and it worked a treat. Rather than the usual glug I add!
