Not sure if this is my mistake or not, but I switched my current reward account to a silver reward account as from reading the paperwork it seemed that I would be eligible for the £180 reward due to upgrading to an eligible account. I've just rang to chase it up and they said I wasn't eligible as I hadnt moved my account from elsewhere. When I've checked this it's really obvious when reading it that I wouldn't be eligible, however at the time I switched which was on the 13.11.24 this wasn't obvious. Is it just my mistake or have they needed to change the wording due to complaints like mine and if so is it worth pursuing? Thanks

Not worth pursuing, it's always been made clear when reading the terms and conditions. Of the many discussions on here, I've not seen anyone claiming the conditions to qualify have been ambiguous.
  • Had you met all the other criteria and if so when?

My switch completes tomorrow, but I did receive the Ulster incentive in February and so not sure if I'll be lucky to get this incentive!

Yes, i put the required £1250 into my account when i received my online banking pin over a week ago. Then i used the pin sent by post to unlock the debit card by doing a small shop. I'd also had an email from Natwest to ask me what i thought of the service during the switch. I gave a 7/10 and explained that i was disappointed that i wouldnt receive the £180 switch reward due to not owning a smart phone. That may have swayed it as the cash went into my online account 2 days later!

Am I stupid - I have a joint account and want to apply for a sole account and switch in - except when I try and apply for a sole account it says I can't, I have to upgrade my existing joint account.  Is it really the case that if you have a joint account you can not apply for a sole account?!
    I think....

A month to be eligible to register for biometrics. Extremely frustrating in the interim. I am tempted to switch out to Lloyds to get their incentive as well.

Entirely agree -- switch gone smoothly, incentive received, like the app etc. -- but can't register for biometrics and have been waiting nearly two weeks for a card reader to show up in the post.

And now the app doesn't like my voice so only face registered. I have tried speaking faster, slower, held the phone at various angles, etc but nothing works.

I do now have the biometrics set up but the long delay was very frustrating. Having said that, I find that the face recognition works really well -- contrary to all the horror stories available online!

This was the only gripe for me in an otherwise good process.

  • I didn't get this incentive, so don't know if they've tightened up the checks or if it was because my Ulster account was still open. As at no time did they actually ask for any income details when opening the account, just for me to do the ID check and only a soft search was done as well.
Never mind I got the digital regular saver and the £3 in rewards if I decide to keep my DD on the account.

I'm a bit confused as to whether you have to pay£1250 in to get the monthly reward, there seems to be contradictory info about this. If so does it have to stay in there for an overnight or can it be paid in and straight out? Also can the direct debits be a fortnightly one to the same payee?

The criteria for the switch offer and the ongoing monthly rewards are different.

For the monthly rewards, the £1250 can be paid straight in/out. No requirement for the money to stay in overnight. If you have multiple rewards accounts (back from when multiple were allowed to be opened) then only one of your accounts needs to receive the deposit to qualify.

For the DDs, they only care that 2x DD payments of £2+ are taken each month. I've had a single Plum DD taking £2 weekly satisfy my reward criteria for years at this point. Fortnightly will also work, as long as 2x payments are taken each month.

I completed the Switch successfully and found it relatively easy and quick to do.
The biometrics took longer to set up as I wasn't eligible to do it for a few days but once I was, it did both the face and voice on the first attempt.
I haven't got any Direct Debit's set up and read on here that it isn't worth doing them if not already in place.
Looking on their website I have also found out that I have to have at least £5 in 'Rewards' before I can redeem them.

As I will only get £1 a month for logging in, I am considering changing this to a 'fee-free' account instead now that I have received my Bonus.
Is there anything to prevent me from doing this?
Could they ask for the Bonus back at all if I downgrade it now to their Everyday Current Account instead?
I'm guessing it will mean having a different debit card/pin number etc?

I am thinking of staying with them, at least for now as I quite like the App.

    Thanks :)
