PipneyJane are you Nigella in disguise?! Lol!
    I wish! :D

No, I've just been a fan of hers from way back, long before she became known as a cookery writer. I started reading her stuff when she used to write a column in the Evening Standard in 1989. It was the only reason I bought that paper (worked out the rest of it was three lines of real news padded out with sensationalist rubbish). I bought my copy of How to Eat when it was first published and read it from cover to cover. (It is like sitting in her kitchen listening to her natter while she was cooking.) The tip comes from there.

Separately, John Diamond had a column in the Saturday edition of the Times, which I always read. He's remembered for how he wrote very openly and honestly about his cancer, but I remember his columns from before he was diagnosed. He was very proud of Nigella.

Have you tried sticky chinese chicken, I marinade my chicken in golden syrup and soy with some spring onion, its so yummy and my kids love it. And it dosent taste sweet if you add loads of soy sauce.

    Hi,
Anyone's got a great recipe for malty marinade for a roast chicken? I am trying to achieve a similar taste to the ones sold at tesco hot food counter but without any chemicals in them :p
I've got a whole chicken waiting to be marinated. Thanks.
Money is not the root of all evil.
It depends on how you obtain it and how you use it.

I have been looking at party foods from supermarkets etc and would love to do mini chicken kebabs but rather than buy them, I thought I would use chicken breast (buy some for me for meals and use a couple for a party).

What would you marinate it in to make it yummy?

  • Ooh!

    Ginger and honey
Honey and chilli (like a sweet chilli sauce)
Sesame oil, soy sauce and sesame seeds

Could do satay chicken? That's lovely too, but you'll have to google for exact recipe or buy a jar ;)

I marinade mine in a mix of honey, light soy sauce, dash of worcestershire & that's it.If I want some heat,I add a dash of mustard or add some tomato ketchup to make it a BBQ style sauce.

You can make a lovely satay-ish sauce with peanut butter (I like crunchy!), sweet chilli sauce (from the Asian supermarket), squeeze of lime or lemon juice, bit of Marmite as a kicker. Works an absolute treat :-)

Thank you so much for the replies. I am liking the tandori style and I can use some of the yogurt along with cucumber for a dip!

Will look at all suggestions so I can offer a variety
