Google timeline Android

Yup, all makes sense, thanks. Strangely, I'm not paranoid about Google knowing my location  but I don't seem to be able to to view it on my phone ... but I can see it on my PC, so it must be there somewhere!

Please make an offline backup via the PC if you still can.

That's because you needed to have transferred the data to your phone earlier. Does it work using the Browser on your phone? http://maps.google.com/timeline

Turn on backup on your device

Important: To turn on backup, auto-delete must be off.

1. On your Android phone, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap your profile picture or initial   Your Timeline.
3. At the upper right, tap the cloud .
4. If auto-delete is turned on, turn it off.
   • To turn off auto-delete, tap Don’t auto delete activity.
5. On the Backup screen, turn on Backup.
6. Tap Yes.

As per my photo, that option is not there.

That's how it used to work, but now .....

What is underneath the overlay? Click the triangle in the left hand corner to remove the overlay. What about Settings? What options are there?

I haven't ever done this but I'm fairly sure that the timeline history used to be visible on my phone

I use Firefox on my phone .... just tried that and it says "Your browser is no longer supported, please upgrade your browser" then invites me to download Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, which is most bizarre as I have GC and FF anyway! I pressed on view timeline anyway (I think it said) and it goes to the timeline website and I can see 'year, month, day' as well as 'Today' but it just spins a circle round and round without getting anywhere!

Auto Delete is off but when I tap on my profile picture, there is *no* option to select Timeline, so can't follow those steps.

How bizarre, not sure where that came from (Never been there, have you? Cyprus is my preference!) - I just copied and pasted it from my Chrome Bookmarks on my laptop. I've edited it now to .co.uk but it then always goes on to .com when I click on it!

It's just the Maps main page

I opened 'Maps Activity' and in 'History' under 'today' it says 'viewed your timeline' ...

I tapped on that and .... Timeline opened ... which is a very complex way of doing something!
