It is there in your photo, but you have something else open and partially on top of it.

Have you looked at Your Data In Maps?1 -
It is very odd J_B
I sometimes lose the usual access to Timeline via the icon in top right hand corner. But I discovered I can access it by tapping on You at the bottom of the screen. When I open Timeline via that method, it seems to restore the usual access again at the top of the screen. Have you tried uninstalling updates, I find that usually resolves most glitches ? You obviously have to go through settings again, but I have never lost any data.
One glitch it doesn't resolve is that it seems to think I am out walking for miles every night when I am actually in bed. And I am definitely not sleep walking !!

No option to download your maps data there?
If not, then go to Settings > Location > Location Services > Timeline > Export Timeline Data.1 -
Right ... we are finally making progress, thanks @dc_scotlandUninstalled updates and cleared cache and now I can see the Timeline icon after I've tapped on my photoOf course, there's a 'BUT'!"Maps is offline" (despite my exact location showing in the map above) "Check your internet connection" and after pressing "try again" no actual timeline showing.I can see the location, wi-fi calling, wifi 'fan', 4g and battery percentage in the top right corner!
