Updated and now I'm back to not seeing Timeline as per my screenshot in post #3

No option to download your maps data there?

If not, then go to Settings > Location > Location Services > Timeline > Export Timeline Data.
    I don't see this option ...

I don't have that option either.

  • Use the Search function to locate Location Services within the Settings application.
  • I can access Location Services no problem, but Timeline does not appear as an option.
  • Seems to be some complaints about being moved onto the Local storage option. I don't have an Android phone, so cannot troubleshoot further.

Right ... we are finally making progress, thanks @dc_scotland
Uninstalled updates and cleared cache and now I can see the Timeline icon after I've tapped on my photo
    Of course, there's a 'BUT'!
"Maps is offline" (despite my exact location showing in the map above) "Check your internet connection" and after pressing "try again" no actual timeline showing.
I can see the location, wi-fi calling, wifi 'fan', 4g and battery percentage in the top right corner!
    :(

I sometimes see the Maps is offline message, usually after editing something in Timeline. But there is always a Done button in bottom right corner. Tapping it activates Maps again for me.

I can go one step better ;)  Settings > Location > Location Services > Timeline but then no option to 'export timeline data'

No 'Done' bottom right, just a pencil icon  ....
Tried turning Wi-Fi off, but no different.

I'm currently using version 11.48 after uninstalling the updates again!
