EDF Sunday Saver

Sounds like a win to me. My Christmas day credit was £2.87 and I was charged £68.17 for the whole of December so about 4.2% of a month.0

Sunday-Saver-Terms-and-Conditions.pdfBaseline10. In order to determine if you have reduced the proportion of electricity consumed in the Peak Period as part of the Challenge, we will calculate your baseline consumption (the “Baseline”). The Baseline will be calculated by taking a weekly average of the proportion of electricity you consumed in the Peak Periods during each week that started in the calendar month prior to the commencement of the first Service Period that you participate in. We will adjust the Baseline for weather corrections and we reserve the right to apply any other corrections. The Baseline, as adjusted by us from time to time, will apply for future consecutive Service Periods that you participate in. We will recalculate your Baseline if your participation in the Service ends or pauses (for example you do not sign-up to participate in a future Service Period, you move house or you are no longer Eligible), the Service is ended or paused by us, or we determine there is an error in the Baseline calculation. The day(s) where an Event has taken place (if any) will be excluded when calculating your Baseline. Thanks - point 10 seems to be linked to the Baseline setting rather than the Service Period calculation.
I did ask if I could be pointed in the direction of the specific item(s) in the T&Cs that exclude such Events but had the reply "I cannot prompt you to a terms and conditions".
I'm getting a feeling that the T&Cs are not consistent with the actual calcuation that took place.

Agree, it was to highlight that EDF see Event days differently - at least for Baseline. So you should be alert to them potentially treating Event days differently elsewhere.UncleTomCobley said:Thanks - point 10 seems to be linked to the Baseline setting rather than the Service Period calculation.
Between clauses 2 and 20 they have a lot of wriggle room, provided they give notice. The question becomes did they and how?UncleTomCobley said:I'm getting a feeling that the T&Cs are not consistent with the actual calcuation that took place.
The FAQ Earn free electricity on Sundays with our Sunday Saver Challenge | EDF says they'll give notice on variations to the Peak Period on the Sunday Saver tab:
As I said before, they may have done that by varying the text of what the weekly challenge was, but I wouldn't swear to it.
As a general principle it's a rotten way of varying the terms because as the customer you won't have a permanent record unless you are actively checking for wording changes and take a screenshot.
I'm not fussed either way as I didn't earn free Sunday hours that week however it is calculated, though I'm curious if my memory or eyesight are playing tricks on me.1 -
ive noticed the vat dosnt get refunded0

Are you sure? My credits equal kWh x unit rate including VAT.northernstar007 said:ive noticed the vat dosnt get refunded
Though the way the PDF bills display the credits is confusing by stating that 0% VAT rate applies in the section that shows them.
The bills do state in the footer they're not tax invoices, so they don't need to show the pre VAT figures. How EDF do the VAT behind the scenes is up to them.0 -
If this is of any help to anyone else, I also missed out on a "free Sunday" due to the energy used on Christmas Day. So I put in a complaint to EDF on 31st December asking why the T&Cs don't state that any energy used during the special(Christmas) event are not counted towards the energy used on the normal Sunday Saver. To cut a long story short, and after many emails and speaking to 2 different complaint handlers (both of whom tried to fob me off), yesterday I was given £50 as a gesture of goodwill if I agreed to close the complaint (I did mention that I would take this to the ombudsman).UncleTomCobley said:NorthEastLight said:Not sure if it was this from the T&Cs I'm remembering or something else (possibly a message in the Energy hub), but the last sentence indicates EDF treat Event days differently.

I tried taking part in Sunday Saver, but no luck. Last week, the app told me I was 'on target' on Friday after the first four days of the week. It said they could not yet access my meter readings for Friday, but still managed to work out that I’d overshot my target on Friday. How is that possible?? Is this a con??0

I accept the UI and meter updates can be flaky/slow to update at times, and their SMS message system on rewards earned could do with a few more QC checks before they blast stuff out.
When you say on 'target' - which traffic light were you on for the 4 days before you were no longer on target, and are you sure it reflected the full 4 days readings?
Don't think the tracker predicts the outcome for the week, rather it tracks the cumulative to date data. The formula is sum of peak usage over the days in scope / total usage over the days in scope, expressed as a percent.
So depending how close you were to achieving some free hours, Friday's usage (or Thursday and Friday if there was a delay in the update) can skew the overall total.
Have you downloaded and checked against your half hourly data?0 -
There seems to be no Sunday Saver for February (or, if there is, I seem to have missed registration). I have signed up to be notified for the next registration window.
Does that mean I am best to load as much weekday energy use as I can into the 4 pm to 7 pm slot so that I achieve a higher baseload for that percentage and my target for the next active period becomes less challenging?
That would, of course, be entirely counter-productive to the load-shifting objective of the Sunday Saver scheme.
