  • Right that's it! I've had a lazy morning - teeny tiny bit hungover. I had my NY Eve last night as I'm driving tonight. Friends offered for us to stay over tonight but I'd quite like to start the year as I mean to carry on - sober(ish)! Also, I'd prefer to wake up in my own home on Jan 1st.

Off to start Monday list as kitchen a bit of tip after last night- lots of glasses to hand wash:o !..........

....... immediately after a cuppa and a slice of toast - carbs and butter should stop the shakes.

12th Night - yup, our trees will stay up til then.

Morning - or rather, afternoon, all - and welcome all newbies. Yesterday was fun in the end with the family although I'm still feeling poorly. This cold thing just wants to sit up in my head and not actually produce anything. I've also a nasty feeling it might be heading chestwards - a sort of tightness there...

I am going to try and keep up with the daily tasks from now on. So looking at the list, it seems I've already done some of them :)

I really do need to do
    • VAT RETURN TODAY
If I don't those really nice people at HMRC will be telling me off...

Right - what is and what's off today's list:

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    Level One
[strike]Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces[/strike] Have already done this - needed to as there was washing up left from yesterday's family visit
    Level Two
    Clean floors
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front
[strike]Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary) [/strike] Already done in general cleaning up after yesterday
    Level Three
[strike]Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round[/strike] Don't have a dining room
Wipe window sills, clean any marks off windows if required
Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
    Extra Mission:
    Choose one or more of:
    • Clean inside of fridge
    • Sort through cleaning cupboard, bin empties and move what needs using first to the front
    • Clean OVEN yes I know you all hate that one wonder how many choose it
    • [strike]Sort any one kitchen/dining room storage area, drawer, cupboard or a shelf[/strike] Did the cupboard where the oven trays live - had to - the middle shelf fell off it's posts and everything kept falling out everytime the door opened. Goodness it was greasy in there!
    • Check the freezer, maybe work what is in there into your meals for the week so you can spend less on groceries

    Hi Everyone

Welcome to all the newbies and returnees :D

We had a great time the other night, thanks for asking embb and dusty. A & W whirled the night away on the dance floor, or more precisely I whirled W round and round and round and round lol the DJ played loads of stuff from 60's 70's and 80's was great :D

A was out at panto again yesterday with their adoptive grandparents and then we all went to a fab Italian restaurant. This morning my school friend who lives north of the border came to visit so had a good catch up with her. This afternoon we are popping down to mum and dad's to see A & W's cousins and then tonight I shall have a glass of vino and be in bed by 11pm.

I always used to ring the church bells (with mum and dad and others!) to ring new year in but last year I wanted no part of it plus there would have been no one to babysit A & W. TBH I will be glad to see the back of this year as well as it is the first full one without DH. Don't get me wrong there have been good parts but also lots of sad days. Next year there is DH's inquest to get through so it's going to be another emotional roller coaster here.

Anyway on a lighter note, thanks for all the laughs we've had on this thread really glad to have been a part of it, even though I have had to dodge those fluffy flying mules of pigpens :p looking forward to more laughs and tears along the way.

I shall get more flying done this next year, I promise ;) Oh and while I am thinking (lol!) about flying what about making/updating a list of Christmas cards received and sorting through Christmas decs as they are taken down. I know some of you have already done this but not too late for us stragglers.

Happy New Year to you all xx

  • Just a quick pop in to say :hello:to all - so many newbies! Welcome and a happy 2008 to everyone.

Have had a mad race round this morning and have got to get organised to visit dad in hospital this afternoon (he was taken in on 27th and told he might have to have toes and/or foot amputated speechless-smiley-040.gif! - he's had one op so far and now we're waiting to see if his foot heals enough to be kept or will have to go - think I might have to exchange the outdoor walker's kit that I bought him for Christmas - will now be as much use as knickers on an avocado).

Still have a boarded up front door after our break-in and won't get new glass until 11 Jan so we'll be staying in tonight - still doesn't feel secure enough to leave unattended overnight. Will someone please have a large NY drink for me - will be only too glad to see the back of this year.

Still haven't thought up my NY resolutions yet - perhaps the best ones are made when you're sozzled and slurring. Um....still thinking.....will get back to you........xx

Got the decorations and tree down, cards too. Feels much lighter and better. They are back up in the loft as well, didn't give DH time to think about saying "we'll do it tomorrow"!

I've got the cards in a bag so I can check if DD wants to keep any of hers, then they can go for recycling. I'll see if any are suitable for turning into tags before I get rid.

Had a go at the kitchen; wiped down all cupboard fronts, disinfected worktops, gave the drainer and sink a good scrub (specially nasty behind the taps).

DH has taken the dog out. I'm going to watch Singin' in the Rain in a minute :)

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
    [strike]Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces[/strike]
Clean floors - both swept just waiting for one to dry before I wash the other (not that theyll stay clean long DD just brought the doogie in from walkies!)
[strike]Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances[/strike]
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front - There is something in there beginning to smell too so it must be done
[strike]Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary)[/strike]
[strike]Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe window sills, clean any marks off windows if required[/strike]

Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky - in use
[strike]Clean inside of fridge[/strike] - will do later as above
[strike]Sort through cleaning cupboard, bin empties and move what needs using first to the front [/strike]- its ok actually as done few weeks ago and kept on top of it
[strike]Clean OVEN yes I know you all hate that one wonder how many choose it [/strike]- So easy now, do the big clean then it only needs a quick wipe every week :D
[strike]Sort any one kitchen/dining room storage area, drawer, cupboard or a shelf[/strike] - did the 'open' cupboard
[strike]Check the freezer, maybe work what is in there into your meals for the week so you can spend less on groceries[/strike] - already keep a list which I updated the other day with DD's help
I may also tackle some of iron mountain as its increasing big style
Also loaded WM x [strike]2[/strike] now 4 and TD x [strike]2[/strike] now 4 plus folded all clothes into individual baskets.
Taken all towels upstairs and stacked in bathroom

And I dont care what any[STRIKE]one[/STRIKE] bloke says housework IS a full time job
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
