DS1 room done. He has grown out of so much stuff so I have written a list of stuff I need to get - will start with the school bits (rucksack and dictionary/stationery bits) and shoes and then do the leisure/sports stuff.

He also needs new football boots and astroturfs.

kimberley - when you reply, there is a crossed out 's' on the far right of the bar above the reply box. Highlight the text you want to cross out, then click on the 's'.

Welcome to all the newbies, and those lapsed flyladies who are having a new Year's moment!!

addictedtolush - I have a feeling that you and pigpen are soulmates...:D

My computer is playing up today, so it has taken since coffee break time at 11.30 to actually get on here. And DS1 is driving me mad by saying at 5 minute intervals that the pc is too old and a useless pile of junk and we need a new one. We 'need' the cloakroom refitted, and quite a few other things as well, we just 'want' a new pc...

I had very good intentions of nipping downtown this afternoon, but haven't done it. Nothing that can't wait until later in the week.

lil_me - I thought of an 'extra' - or maybe it's just something to do at this time of the year, like making lists of Christmas cards received! In the room for the day, make a list of anything that needs replacing, or that you want to add, and keep the list in your bag. If you see anything in the sales, or in an outlet, then you have the list with you. Best if you note down the sizes, colors, target price etc. I'm intending to add some colour swatches as well, for curtain material and cushions.

licklegibbon - (((hugs))) to you father. Will be thinking of you all.
It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be
  • Not sure about flying - I think we've all been in orbit. Well done everyone, what a way to start the year, eh! If Manic Monday hasn't gone quite to plan - never mind, the kitchen ain't going anywhere.

Today, after my slow start, I have mostly been:
Handwashing glasses (loads), dried and put away.
General debris cleaning from dinner party last night.
Wiped, cleaned, disinfected: sink, drainer, hob, kitchen surfaces, sills in conservatory, dining table.
Cleaned up cat pooh, scrubbed mark from where she wiped her bum on the carpet - she's old.... but she needs to stop this if she wants to get older.
Swept, washed kitchen & conservatory floor.
Took out recycling bits and disinfected compost collector.
Fed chickens some left over roast potatoes/parsnips I'd forgotten about in the fridge.
Wiped kitchen frontages (forgot appliances though)
Not much to do in dining room as still ship shape.
    Dailies
    S&Sd bathroom sink and toilet
    Made bed
    Made bread
    Unloaded/loaded dishwasher
Done meal plans until next Sunday - no grocery shopping needed, yay!

I need to do more of the de-cluttering missions this year... and the oven....

OH has just called to say he's leaving the office early so we can have a little sit down and a cuppa before we head off to friends tonight. Lovely.

Now, I'm going to paint my nails for tonight! Might just pop a wash on first though.

I hope everyone has a peaceful start to the new year, whether you're with friends, family or having a quiet night in, have a good one.

LG, hope your Dad doesn't have to have the second op, will keep fingers crossed here for him. I'll be sober and staying home too, lets just hope next year brings nicer things.

vanilla, good luck :D Upsey_daisy good luck to your partner.

Kimberley, if the present won't fit send it back to their Dad's so they can play it there, I would! :D hope the rehoming goes well.

Mushypeas - I find tumble drier sheets work well as a drawer freshner, or just some fabric conditioner on a flannel.

Shirley and Tartan Mum welcome home :D welcome to the newbies too :D

lilo our duvets go in the washing machine, winter ones you might need laundrette washer but I do all the summer ones here (inc king size) and the single winter ones in my machine

Pollybear ((giant hugs)) my partners eyes are the same, I think it might be part of this bug, hope the drops help. Have you got any hayfever stuff/piriton? Might help take the itching away. Pleased your DH has noticed and has helped.

serena, thanks for the suggestions, will add them in somewhere.

Jue, I think it's fair, teaching them the value of money and some responsibility is great, should start as early as possible. Breaking it down into bite size bits, if those are the 4 things then maybe a certain amount for doing each each day. Kids usually don't 'get it' if they have to wait all week for it, it can be hard work but daily points to earn to exchange for pocket money or just doing the money daily, if that is 5p per thing for example they can 'earn' up to 20p a day, usually works much better with little ones if done daily as long as you are consistent. I have a chart I did for my boys, modified from another I found online if you want it PM me your email addy and I will send it.

My jobs for today included going to the council office to get some paperwork sorted but they are closed - why it's a normal working day?!!! Been to my sisters and collected what will be DS2s birthday present. Popped to the shop for a few fresh things I needed and something to try to get DS1 to eat as he seemed better - until I got home to find out he'd gone back to bed at 1pm and is still there!

I've hardly touched the kitchen yet but I am keeping that for tonight, save me being too bored. DP will be at work - now asleep on sofa as goodness knows what time he will get in, so it's just me and 2 poorly boys. I have done another 3 laundry loads and other cleaning things just not much in the kitchen.

Right, whatever you are all doing this evening have a good evening, I'll be dotting about the internet between doing other stuff.

    Happy New Year Everyone :D
One day I might be more organised...........

Nipped out Mr T's at 3pm for some champagne (I had run out and Mr T's has a good offer on at the moment).

It was manic!!!!! Queuing to get into the car park etc. As I only wanted a couple of bits, I naughtily parked up in the petrol station bit and walked across the car park - worked a treat! I swear cars were still in the same position when I got out again 15 minutes later! :D There was actually hardly anyone in the store. They really should have some car park control there.

I really do need to do
    • [STRIKE]VAT RETURN TODAY[/STRIKE] Painfully done! (Yes, the VAT money sits in a separate account and is always there, but it still hurts having to pay it over!) But, thank heavens for online egov services.

[strike]Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces[/strike] Have already done this - needed to as there was washing up left from yesterday's family visit

[strike]Wipe dining table (clean table cloth if necessary) [/strike] Already done in general cleaning up after yesterday
    Level Three
[strike]Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round[/strike] Don't have a dining room

The drops are very soothing lil_me, I think they are helping (Optrex eye infection drops). I'm assuming it's all linked in with this cold bug.

I think everybody has different rules about when to take down their tree etc. I think the idea is that it is bad luck to keep them up for longer than twelfth night. That's what I'm sticking with anyway!
