Latex and micropore were invented by devil's children, 'it's hypoallergenic' MY AR*E! Stupid made up word for advertising purposes! Thankfully most places now seem to use latex free as a rule, my friend's latex issues are much worse than mine as her throat etc swells when she's even eaten something that has been touched with it. My new nurse hasn't got used to me yet, keeps trying to put a darn micropore plaster on when I've had blood taken, then has it thrown back at her with a request for cotton wool with NO tape!!!
Mum on a mission, pigpen, lil_me you all make me feel normal at last. I am made to feel like it is just me who reacts to all those things. Wool sends me demented!! Lanolin-why do they put it in so many things? I got some new shampoo for Christmas and it has my scalp covered in blisters.

I am going to the dentist tomorrow and they told me they have to clean down the whole room before I go in because of the latex allergy. I am not as bad as your friend lil_me so I don't think they need to be so extreme.
I do have my own special non-rubber gloves that I have to hide from kids as they were so expensive.

MOAM - I have the same thing with the heart monitors now, thankfully when DS2 was born my DPs stepmam works on the ward, she came straight through to see me and made sure they were pulled straight off as she knows how bad my scar is from when DS1 was born. When I have been in the other hospital the specialist is aware and they've always removed them before I even come round.

Definately not on your own, amazes me how many 'awkward' people there are as I am used to being called. I remember when Micropore first came out, my Dad bought some thinking I'd be ok with it, well it's better than other tapes, but still wasn't good :rotfl: I am just used to being the awkward one making everyone fasten things on. I must look silly as if I have a cut to be covered on my finger I use elasticated finger bandages, bit excessive but at least I don't need tape! I'm going to give that spray plaster stuff a go next time, bought some for DS1 who is petrified of plasters.

Thought it was just my little monkey that was allergic to hospital tape;) IV3000, mepore, anything along those lines gives her a reaction. Which is fun with all her surgeries. NOT. And why do i have to tell them about it everytime she goes in, even then she still comes out of surgery covered in it:mad: We have become quite inventive, using clingfilm etc to cover emla cream:D

Clingfilm is good for keeping canulas on, was a assistant on a ward I was on came up with that, still within a few days I was itchy but better than tape!

    Hiya
I've had a couple of hours sleep and a bath and feel a little more human. Our new cooker has arrived with a big scratch down the front and three buttons missing. I'll fight that one tomorrow. At the moment half my kitchen is dismantled and the gas hob is suspended by ropes from the ceiling. Strangely, i'm not in the slightest bit stressed. Guess it's just not a priority right now. The house is a tip. I'm sorting it slowly and will be fully on board next week xx

    Hugs for LJD today.
Back to work for me tomorrow, and I am tired out. My daughter is going to stay with her cousins on Friday, and she is more excited about this than she was Christmas. At FOUR AM today she came into our room asking how much longer before she was going to London. I finally went back to bed with her to try and get her to sleep, everytime I thought I could doze off she asked again how much longer it was going to be.... I finally said she could play quietly in her room, which she did until 8am, when she went in and woke her brother up so OH got up with them, then I got up at 9am.

I want to go to bed, but I need to
    1. conquer the ironing pile
    2. clear out and clean the fridge (I hate to admit it, but something is very pongy in there, I hope it is OH's smelly Christmas cheese)
    3. make a list for tomorrow.
I am packing up my classroom tomorrow, so am hoping to do 27,000 fling boogie. My stardrops and microfibre cloths are packed to take.
