  • Happy New Year

Morning all, only just got up as I didn't go to bed until around 3am ! Had a very nice evening around a friends house. I was on call for work until 11pm so couldn't get drunk before then just incase and so decided not to bother drinking so I could drive home again.

I guess I had better finish off painting the lounge to I can clean up in there properly, I certainly can't fly in there at the moment all the furniture is in a pile in the middle of the room !

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Good Morning and Happy New Year! I've been a very occasional lurker on here for a while, but I think it's time I tried to join in properly if I may? I know I'll find it harder when school resumes (Thursday - January 3rd, for goodness sake!!) but if I don't get to grips with it all this year that'll be another year of frantic cleaning whenever someone's coming - and I've had enough of that - too many bags of junk hastily hidden upstairs rarely to resurface. So, please, can I be inspired by the rest of you and will you give me an encouraging well-placed kick from time to time?

    Think twice before spending anything!

lilo - dry cleaners usually do duvets aswell if you get no joy elsewhere. There isn't a laundrette in the town where I live but there is a couple in villages and housing areas. As for the sandwich meats, should be fine, I usually freeze it sliced in 'usable' portions, I'd rather get 2 smaller ones from the freezer when needed than waste half a large one.

Right, late, I'm off to bed, see you all tomorrow, well, in the morning :rotfl:

Hiya, i don't have a dry cleaners near me and my washing machine wouldn't take a duvet, especially the double ones, so i wash mine in the bath :D I stand in the bath and jump on the duvet to ensure the powder mixes well, then once i have rinsed it, we all wring the life out of it, then put it over the banisters to dry, it only takes a day or two to dry :D

Thats something going back to the Victorian days, but you have to make do :p

Hey, you can't all be cleaning on new years day, have a days break and take time out for yourselves for a change :)

    Hiya
I managed to spend until 8pm last night in casualty with my dad who'd had an accident. He has to go back tomorrow for another xray on his knee.

Well we survived New Year and I think the antibiotics are slowly starting to work. We got in a 130am and the children were little stars. Spent a lot of the evening playing on my friends Wii so didn't have time to drink too much which is good.

Off to spend the day with my mum and dad so we'll walk there. It's only about a mile away and I think we all need to blow the cobwebs away.

Need to sort the kitchen out big time when we get home as the new cooker arrives tomorrow. Hope everyone has a nice day xx

Happy new year, welcome to all the newbies. I had a rubbish new year, worked til 11.30pm then had a big fight with DH right before the bells(mostly my fault:o ) Ah well, my resolution this year is not to take him for granted, i know a few people on here have lost their partners and it makes me realise lifes too short to take things for granted. Hugs to everyone. Hope you all have great years with tidy houses!

Got the vacuuming done now (all through downstairs and up the stairs). My head is pounding and I can't breathe so I'm sniffing on the Olbas oil again.
