I just relisted my listings and they were taken from my 300 allocation.
I always relist - never sell similar - as if someone had bookmarked the previous listing, they get a link at the top informing them the item has been relisted and taking them to the relisted item......

Just had a sale from a relisted item, that Ive relisted multiple times in the past, and can confirm - no eBay fee's applied at all!!!!!

Reading all t&c's late last night I can't  see much that has changed other than 300 free listings instead of 1,000.

I was under the impression that the "free" meant no fvf but it is the same as it was - full fvf including postage.

There is a bit of confusion if Shoes are now treated the same as selling clothes (no fvf) as the article talked about trainers and clothing with shoes in the mix???
  • Those higher volume private sellers that have been forced on to eBay business accounts are going to be gutted!
The official email from eBay this morning states that the limit for private sellers is being reduced and there are more steps to reduce false private sellers.

the T&C's last night were not current. 300 listings per month, no fees at all for private sellers. motors and int'l sales excluded.
  • I don't really understood the logic with this. For years, sellers have been saying get rid of the listing fee and Ebay's counter argument was that if they did that, the site will be over-run with junk that will sit permanently on the site (my paraphrasing).

Surely this will happen now and make it more difficult to search?

You wanna bet? Nearly every time I search, I'm faced with "Your search has been streamlined to show..."
INCLUDING my own listing relegated to oblivion. Instead the buyer is faced with a multitude of promoted listings, causing them to actually email me asking what the information bullet pointed about the item is BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIND IT.  in other words, eBay will just show (or use an algorithm to show, what they like.

  • I doubt I will be the only one caught out by this but I sold an item on the 29th sept had my final valuation fee taken off standard stuff. Then on the 1st Oct they get rid of most of there fees including final valuation fees. In my mind this is not on by eBay. They should of put out something weeks ago telling everyone that this was gonna take place, if I knew this I would of waited a week or so to sell my item. I feel that a lot of other people out there will be questioning this and feeling hard done by. eBay should give people some grace and may be refund people's fees back. Private sellers never had a choice of whether to wait for the new policy to start.
  • This is great news for me!  As a frugal money saver I always used to wait for money off FVF listing events, and only list then.  So this is great!

Surprised how little fanfare there has been about it, and how they ever-so casually announced it in a message today.  I thought they could have made a lot more of it?  Still, I'm pleased regardless.

I've seen the following restrictions so far:

    - Private sellers only
    - Only applies to first 300 listings per month
    - Does not apply to motor categories (ALL other categories included)

Is it also the case that if the buyer is not in the UK then it doesn't count and a FVF is taken (and if so is it at the same rate as previous)?

Any other restrictions anyone is aware of?

Presumably it doesn't matter whether the listing is auction of BIN?

    Cheers
  • @pfpf - that's my 1k post.  A little more exciting and triumphant than your 5k post, but 4k short of it ;)
