I listed a couple of things at the weekend - as a provide seller - all the features in the article appear to already be in place albeit that final fees are still mentioned. I did press the 'AI' button as I was curious, I didn't like it so did my own description but interestingly if you press it, delete the wording and press it again then it gives a different description.

As well as being able to buy on eBay with funds, it also says that postage labels can be purchased directly. This is quite useful as with private sales it just keeps everything neat and tidy, you sell something, your postage label costs are taken from the funds and everything left is yours to keep or spend on eBay.

I'm a private seller, just getting rid of unwanted personal items.
Not having to pay fees on footwear and jewellery is good news for me.
I was considering moving to Vinted because of eBay seller fees.

    This isn't good news though:
Ebay said it had introduced other changes to its site, including AI-generated descriptions and photo-enhancing tools.
I really don't want to read flowery, verbose rambling that gives me no idea of the condition of an item I might be interested in.
    Like this:
These stunning women's shoes are a must-have for any fashion-forward individual.
Lightweight, woman's luxury leather sneaker . Handcrafted in a shimmery Italian leather and black leather trim combination.
What a load of useless tosh!

They're already well in use, and put me off.  If a seller can't be bothered to write their own description that's actually useful, then I'm not confident they'll be a good seller.

Once it's there pepole use it, ironically most people probably don't read the description any way....

I always read the description - very carefully - and study the photos.
If there's insufficient information for me to consider buying/bidding for an item, I ask the seller.

Lack of photos also put me off.
So any item with AI description and just one photo will be passed over by me.

Mostly the same here, except I don't bother asking for info and just dismiss that item, unless it's something specific that I really want and isn't being sold by anyone else.

My dashboard shows just 300 free listings, no link for terms and conditions though . I ended and re listed a handful of items and they have all been taken off the 300.

I’ll look later for the t and cs to see if it still shows that auto relists don’t affect the 300 and that we get a fresh 300 each month.

    • Relists and renewals: When your existing listings are automatically renewed or relisted, we don't charge the listing fee again, and the renewal or relist won't count against your free listings allocation. If you choose to manually relist your item, it'll count against your free listings allocation, or we'll charge a listing fee if you've used up your monthly allocation

I also think this bit is interesting as well, no more automatic payouts for private sellers.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814

How eBay balance affects your payouts

Scheduled payouts are being removed for private sellers from 16 October 2024 as part of the launch of eBay balance. This means that if you’re a private seller, you won’t receive your payouts on a daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly schedule as the funds will be stored in your account as part of your balance.

Your available funds will be sent to your eBay balance, typically in 1 day, where you can use them to pay for items, postage, and other selling costs on eBay.co.uk.

Private sellers can still request payouts directly to a linked bank account the funds are available by selecting Withdraw in the Payments tab.

If you’re a business seller on eBay, nothing will change and you’ll receive your payouts on your usual schedule.

For more information, visit our article on eBay balance.

They want people to hold money in their eBay accounts to make buying easier - I'll be withdrawing mine manually each time instead!

Is the free selling for new listings only? I have existing listings - probably best I end and relist them?
