That is something that has been discussed elsewhere, mainly on business forums. The idea that if private sellers were going to get all this stuff free then there ought to be an incentive for them to spend it all on eBay, and perhaps benefit businesses.

Same here. I use MVLs and variations on my business account as financially it makes sense as a MVL is charged just one lot of listing fees. I would struggle to think of a good reason to need them on my, or any private accounts.

I've seen a few listings where someone is selling say their video game collection and they stick everything in a single MVL which probably saves time and boosts visibility but given the alternative is peanuts to Music Magpie or CEX or worse still standing in the rain dealing with members of the public at book fairs I'm sure people will still opt to use eBay for sch things even if that little bit of inconvenience disappears.

That is postive bit like the old days of keeping Paypal pennies for buying bits and pieces.

The problem is though for MVLs the condition must be exactly the same, so often an MVL isn’t appropriate and you see sellers desperately trying to write 300 lines of explanation about the condition of each individual item, whilst listing the whole lot as ‘very good’.

That's the icing on the cake for me.  I have so much personal stuff I've been meaning to list for ages.  This will hopefully be the incentive I needed to get it done!

Tell that to Music Magpie! :)
Most of the media I've purchased over the years has been described as either very good or like new, but it rarely is (in relation the condition notes eBay set), last thing described as like new had visible water damage, I've just lowered my expectations, which I can only assume are higher than average.

I'm a private seller, just getting rid of unwanted personal items.
Not having to pay fees on footwear and jewellery is good news for me.
I was considering moving to Vinted because of eBay seller fees.

    This isn't good news though:
Ebay said it had introduced other changes to its site, including AI-generated descriptions and photo-enhancing tools.
I really don't want to read flowery, verbose rambling that gives me no idea of the condition of an item I might be interested in.
    Like this:
These stunning women's shoes are a must-have for any fashion-forward individual.
Lightweight, woman's luxury leather sneaker . Handcrafted in a shimmery Italian leather and black leather trim combination.
What a load of useless tosh!

They're already well in use, and put me off.  If a seller can't be bothered to write their own description that's actually useful, then I'm not confident they'll be a good seller.

Unfortunately companies go with what is trending through fear of being left behind, even this site has a chat bot thingy:
Once it's there pepole use it, ironically most people probably don't read the description any way....
