Hello wonderful people. I’m not sure if I posted yesterday or not??? I am on nsd#4 this week and nsd #9 this month. All meals have been from stores this week. Managed a run today which made me feel so much better. And the last of the afternoon sun was still peeking through while I was running which was lovely. Setting my to do list for this weekend tonight. Can’t believe we’ve gone past the mid-October point.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #829

Oh dear, not sure if I've made an absolute t*t of myself tonight, we have a woman across the road who allows her white coated French bulldog to yap away through out the night in her small yard. She has also left it outside in the hot sun during the summer months. I knocked her door several times to say I was very concerned and would be calling the RSPCA tomorrow only for my husband to tell me I was being recorded on her ringbell or whatever they are called. Guess I'll be forced to face the consequences tomorrow but I won't stand for neglect like this. Bring it on .......8

Good morning Turtles, and happy weekend.
i took a sick day on Tuesday as i was still feeling poorly and I couldn’t face going to the office, and it’s incredible how a day of full rest does actually help! I felt much better by Wednesday, but I’ve been very busy with work for the rest of the week.
Thursday I started working in the bedroom again, as the renovation works have finally finished, OH assembled the wardrobe in its new spot on Wednesday, and Thursday evening and yesterday evening I’ve thoroughly cleaned the wardrobe and the windows from all the construction dust. I also started cleaning the new floor, which sadly was not only dusty but had a few scratches (made by the contractors I would assume minutes after they put the floor down….) and in some places dried plaster powder had seeped through the crevices of the parts of the wood which are more rustic. I wanted to cry, I know floors do get scratches with use, which is fine, but I certainly didn’t expect to never be able to see my brand new floor in a perfect state.Anyway, yesterday I spent the evening on my knees scrubbing with a microfibre cloth and water and was able to remove most of the plaster powder, there’s only a few spots left and I’m giving it another go today. Once the floor is fully clean I will start putting the clothes back into the wardrobe, and finally empty the living room. The bed will be delivered on Monday, and I’ve been counting the nights left to sleep on the sofa bed (2 nights left!!).
I also sent OH to drop off the unused paint to get a refund, so that should help money wise, as the works costed quite a bit more than I was originally quoted. My birthday is coming up next week, but I do not want any celebrations, also because next weekend I’m flying to Dublin to see my friend who is doing a baby shower for her second baby, and while I’m there we will also celebrate my birthday and her birthday together. I got her two cards, I had already sorted her birthday present a few months ago when we had an internal sample sale at my job, and I have knitted a pair of baby bloomers and baby booties for the baby shower, which I really hope is enough.Today is NSD #12, and I am delighted to report that I had a 5 NSD streak this week!Today I am grateful for being able to return unused paint, for past me looking ahead and sorting birthday and baby shower presents, for finally emptying the living room.Hugs to everyone who needs them!Debt free journey started 30/08/2023:

Yesterday wasn’t a nsd but instead I went for lunch with my mum which was brilliant for mental health. Week days are so busy it’s nice to have an hour to catch up. The change in weather is making me feel tired and achey. I am on 9 nsds so far and I will aim for another 4 next week.Grateful for pastries for breakfast, cups of tea when I’m cold and a good selection of recorded programmes to watch on a rainy weekend if I can find time.Have a great weekend turtlesMortgage free wannabee 2022 #829

Had a super afternoon yesterday when I finally attended my National Exercise Referral appointment at my local gym (apropos of Sciatica/broken hip and some mobility problems) My 'personal trainer' was delightful and we got on so well. Can't wait for the next session8

Thought I was getting over the winter bugs but felt rotten this morning. Took a book back to the library and an electrical item to the hospice shop. Then went to buy some food (needed carrots and drinks and was looking for a few other bits. HB had chicken fillets (and the carrots) so came home again whilst I could still walk. Sat on the couch watching a film and chopped/ prepped a cabbage, a head of celery, half the carrots, some past their best leeks and a bag of frozen onions. Made a beautiful comforting chicken stew (still have half the chicken pieces) and then bacon soup (cooking bacon scraps, pearl barley, frozen sprouts, half a bag of frozen onions, brown lentils in both dishes. have been scraping spices out of jars and some substitutes but 2 pans full of food (already had a second large bowl of the chicken. Lots of ideas for what else I can make. I have the 5 veg for £5 offer from the community shop (6 parsnips for £1 and 4 peppers £1) and lots of frozen veg. Just trying not to get too enthusiastic and wear myself out.
Getting up off the couch after doing veg was extremely difficult - thought I might have to get down on my knees, crawl across the floor and pull myself up on another piece of furniture. I have put one of the back cushions on top of the seat cushion so I'm higher up and have less to do to get to a standing position.
I have half the hob clear (2 burners) and a piece of worktop. The worktop is still unusable, after moving several layers of clutter (4 dry husks of garlic bulbs which is why I'm scraping the powder from jars) I can see the surface. So far I've used a wallpaper scraper to chip off dried on lumps of garlic powder and various other bits but it needs more work. I've picked up some items from under the stairs (formerly on the piece of furniture that was collected last month) and I'm ready to do the next bit of shuffling.
I have made lots of progress but things like emptying buckets wear me out quickly. More floor, more surfaces (one rusty, one covered in dried on gunk, the one that should be mine destroyed by months of leaks from the bathroom), rubbish going out, more buckets/ planters in the yard sorted. Will try for another big push tomorrow (lotss of random bits to go to the cs that are open on Sunday.
Grateful for progress, lovely stew, books and films and other distractions (from aching muscles)10 -
@laura_lau we have oak flooring downstairs and it does get marked. Any obvious scratches or scuffs can be treated with wood dye applied sparingly to problem spots on the clean floor with a soft cloth. Take a photo on your phone of your floor in the best light possible, then take it to a DIY type place and choose the wood dye that is closest possible shade. I will ask my husband for some brand names etc if that would help (I don't normally ask my husband things lol but he is a wood worker, so his expertise on this topic surpasses mine!) The marks don't show with this treatment. It is easy to do and only takes a minute. Remember it will take a while to dry so avoid the area till it does.

Morning turtles. I have had a lovely weekend but have eaten badly and spent money on a takeaway. Not begrudging myself as I hardly ever do it I'm not beating myself up about it but I'm supposed to be in savings mode!!
On the plus side I am now getting 26 euros a month interest into my bank account from my savings. I have never had my money make money for me before so although it is only a little I am very happy (and it covers the cost of that takeaway)
I have a couple of money decisions to make next week. I'm in a choir at work, which I absolutely LOVE (the teacher is amazing). When the choir started up earlier this year we were paying 20 euros a month, which was very reasonable but since then they have decided to extend the class to 90mins rather than an hour, so we are paying around 32 euros and then people keep dropping out, so the price keeps increasing. I love it but I don't know if I can justify this expense while I am trying to save for a house. I am sure it will end up at 40 euros a month soon and that seems too much. I could drop out and re-join at some point in the future but I feel bad for the other members as the price will increase for them!Student loan £5655
