Poor House Spiders are far more frightened of us than we should be of them. They will rid of us of pesky insects that will try to colonise our houses over the winter. if you are really scared then a pint glass over them and a sheet of cardboard slid underneath it and a quick release into your garden should do the trick9

apple_muncher said:Today I am grateful for meeting up with dsd1 and her family, for taking myself on a long walk this morning and visiting a Roman theatre, castle and the Gibralfaro, for being asked questions in the street - people are assuming I'm Spanish 🤣 so it's just as well I understand the questions, for Pip having a good day at schoolk for the washing machine in my Airbnb.
I am absolutely frazzled after two days of work meetings the Spanish way, in other words lots of animated talking over each other loudly and interrupting. Yesterday this was my reality from 10am to 1am. My head is about to explode. Some positives came out of it though. @DrCarrie , it is a contested issue whether spiders fear the chestnut because of soapy saponides .... But it is a proven truth the hairy legged lodgers don't like the smell of peppermint.

Headed to town after breakfast, picked up a few things then dropped off & collected sewing.
Went to mum's & sorted through some boxes. Listed some things on FB & have buyers for all the jigsaws. Had a good chat whilst we worked too.
After dinner I headed to see a friend. We went for a walk in between downpours, then had Wool Club. I finished sewing all the French knots on my toadstool cardigan & my friend crocheted.
Half an hour back at mum's, then out for tea with two friends I've known for 25 years. We worked together, then I moved to a different building within the same department, but have stayed friends all this time. Was good to catch up, think the last time we got together was a year ago before my younger friend started chemo.
Very tired tonight. Would've liked to finish my book, but it'll wait til tomorrow. Sweet dreams y'all!
Grateful for friends, nearly finishing my cardigan & a tidier corner at mum'sUse it up, wear it out

You are in Esmerelda.
I'm very pro spider. They trap all the nasties (flies and their disgusting habits). I was once very ill (D & V in the school holidays) and mum came to help. I was upstairs with a bucket unable to move and I heard little boys wailing "Not the spiders, grandma, not the spiders". It got worse when she wanted to hoover and I'm thinking "not my Die-son, please"
I've had a couple of slow days. Tuesday was putting out the bins and I put out at least 2 large bin bags and 2 more small ones that they sent down. Late on DS3 came down with another large bin bag and an enormous pile of pizza boxes, went out the front door because I'd moved the bins to the collection point and came back saying I hadn't squashed things enough - he'd squeezed them into the top of an already full bin (I used no 8's as well because it's still empty. I went to put next door's bin back (No 2) and she had a row of shiny new bins. So I'm using her old one as a temporary store for some things that will go in my future skip - it's out of the house, out of the yard and the neighbours can't complain about it being untidy because it's hidden from view.
I am feeling brighter but still very tired - 7 pm bed time 2 nights on the run. Yesterday was absolutely horrible. Torrential rain (the bins have not been brought back yet). I had hoped it would be the cs run plus a few errands but I got drenched every time I put a toe out the door. I was very creative with food.
However late on I forced myself into the kitchen and did as much washing up as I could manage (back and legs aching from emptying the washing up bowl and bits from cooking). I'm doing all the nasty stuff now - oven sheets and roasters with fat and baked on stuff. I even did the inner from their abandoned slow cooker which has been on the side for a while (I just kept soaking and scaping it a bit at the end of other washing up). Rather than wash it with the DW out of action I think they've actually bought a new one which is kept upstairs, DS3 insists that I have lost the lid.
So the bit of worktop from the sink to the wall (about 4') is clear. It's not very nice and not really usable - next to the sink and above the DW where they dump any pots for the washing up fairy (usually waiting until I've cleared the last lot so there's a space. It has rusty patches. However I pushed myself to clear the washing up (left another nasty dish to soak overnight) was because with a bit more effort, I thing I can clear the hob and do some cooking.
This morning it's absolutely lovely outside. Still a chill but no rain, all fresh and bright. So today may be cs run and errands - if I have clothes to wear, at least 3 long dresses plus layers are in the new wash pile (maybe I'll rub them around the floor a bit first). I may have to wear a 'good' dress and then be super careful if when working on the kitchen (and yard).
Grateful for a lovely clear morning, the joy of skip anticipation (ridiculously excited about this and determined that if I want it gone, it's going - no having to keep things because I don't know when I could replace it if needed), old tv series to enjoy (my eyes are sore so keeping screen time to a minimum(.

All that stuff would have been thrown years ago by 89% of people. You have used it to the end of its usefulness. Probably beyond. It will go in the skip, they will sort the wood from metal.
You can't do it all yourself. I might have skip envy (is that a thing? it should be)
I am in Chadderton (so good they named it once) waiting for work friends to appear to eat and get to bed early for an event tomorrow. It is all on expenses so keeping my NSD.
No news as yet on the Elf-Position for DS3 . 😁4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
