I opened my account on the 20/11 and requested the switch at the same time. It has just occurred to me that I have had zero correspondence regarding the switch so far from either bank, is this the norm? Seems easier to ask on here as queues through to their CS team are 40 minutes plus!
I applied on 17th of October and requested the switch on 19th. Got an email as a confirmation: "You signed: "Online Switch Form". The switch was completed a 3 days later than I requested.

Can I ask those of you who have received the £75 what setting up your debit card in the digital wall means ? my incentive is late arriving and a message to them has seemed to indicate that I haven't.  I ve set the card up on apple pay and been using it lots more than 10 times.
I was confused about that too... to the extent that I borrowed my OH device and added my card to his google wallet. This didn't help to satisfy the conditions, though. Someone here suggested that their system is set up to count transactions/payments since 10th of the month  >:)  In my case it looks like messaging helped: my switch was completed on the 1st, I met all conditions on the 12th, sent an online message last Sunday to chase it and received a confirmation yesterday that all is well.
Furthermore, at when I thought adding the card the first time didn't work - I was wrong. I had an option to pay for a second-hand book via my google wallet and it just worked.

Our timescales and experience is pretty identical if that reassures.
  • So ... I've just made my 10 Co-Op transactions via debit card by buying 10 * £25 Premium Bonds. :)

You can't do this on the app I think, but the desktop login allows payment by debit card, min £25, if you scroll down below the normal bank transfer options.

I managed to do 8 and then the 9th was declined.
So I waited one hour incase it was just PB's systems and not Co-Ops security, then tried again, and final 2 made went through.

Anyway - I've done all the other stuff, £1000 transfer, digital wallet etc - so as per the terms am now expecting the first £75 within 7 days - so will report back by 05/12 if PB purchases count as valid transactions!

Hope so, as this will be a really easy way to get the next £25 incentives too...

If you don't want to put £250 in Premium Bonds, you can open a direct saver with NS&I and top up in £1 chunks instead. Withdrawable after about 10 days.

I think you have to do all these things AFTER the switch has completed don't you? That's what my understanding was and it may be how you did it.

Yes the wording on the Co-Op website is a bit over-complicated(!), but basically wait until the day after you get the transfer complete email, and you should be fine.

    "Please note:

Deposits and transactions made prior to the day after your switch completes will not count towards fulfilment of this criteria."

I've just seen that this offer has re-emerged after recently closing, and after looking through some comments on this and previous Co-Op switch threads, is it worth it? It seems that the requirements are giving more hoops to jump through to get all the money (not a surprise really), but it seems more that people are slating the whole process and the bank, loads of problems and whatnot. Are Co-Op as bad as Barclays? I did the Barclays switch around this time last year and blimey, they are horrendous! They only switches vailable to me at the moment are this or Santander, both of which take months rather than weeks to get all the money, wondering whether to go fo either or wait for better requirements/higher incentives.

Is it a lot of hoops though - really?

I’ve done 7 account switches now and this one is no different.
    Apply online and switch. Fine.
    Have 2 DDs, yes yes.
Transfer a £1000 in, well I appreciate not everyone has spare cash to mess about with, but there is no restriction on keeping it there so you can transfer back out again same day. Ok.
Setup card in digital wallet. Ooh scary? Is this a hoop? Actually takes about 60 seconds on an iPhone.
Make 10 debit transactions. Pretty normal yeah I can buy 10 tiny things.
    Done.
How easy do people want it? Do you want to just send a bank an email asking for money and get it by return email?
It only takes a little effort to meet the criteria… Co-Op is fine

I agree. If you transcribed what is involved across to a job as an hourly rate it would be like £100 plus an hour for a tiny bit of brain work and some screen clicking.
