So ... I've just made my 10 Co-Op transactions via debit card by buying 10 * £25 Premium Bonds. :)

You can't do this on the app I think, but the desktop login allows payment by debit card, min £25, if you scroll down below the normal bank transfer options.

I managed to do 8 and then the 9th was declined.
So I waited one hour incase it was just PB's systems and not Co-Ops security, then tried again, and final 2 made went through.

Anyway - I've done all the other stuff, £1000 transfer, digital wallet etc - so as per the terms am now expecting the first £75 within 7 days - so will report back by 05/12 if PB purchases count as valid transactions!

Hope so, as this will be a really easy way to get the next £25 incentives too...
Just reporting back - got my first £75 incentive today so can confirm (as these were my only debits) that 10 * £25 premium bond purchases works. 👍

Will simply repeat each month to get each £25 additional incentive.

It's a lot easier than buying 10 carrots in Tesco ;)

Am I correct that the £1000 can go in then immediately back out again?

Yes. For reference the only bank who stipulates otherwise is Natwest/RBS/Ulster.

Would 10 debit card payments of £1 to my NSandI savings account or my trading 212 account count as the debit card requirements does anybody know or is this forbidden as a "cash type transaction".

NS & I works fine. Though I paid 10 times different sums between £1 and £2.

Managed 9 on wife's n s and I account from her debit card then it suddenly started declining them. Couldn't do any ns and I or Trading 212 on my coop card or account but did 3 cambridge BS transactions then it started declining! Hey ho try again tomorrow!

I do the 10x £1 payments to Trading 212 and it works fine (paying via Google Pay).

Yep, worked thanks. It's finding the distinction between choosing Card and choosing Google Play then choosing the Coop card from that wallet. The latter is what worked!
  • Is it a lot of hoops though - really?

I’ve done 7 account switches now and this one is no different.
    Apply online and switch. Fine.
    Have 2 DDs, yes yes.
Transfer a £1000 in, well I appreciate not everyone has spare cash to mess about with, but there is no restriction on keeping it there so you can transfer back out again same day. Ok.
Setup card in digital wallet. Ooh scary? Is this a hoop? Actually takes about 60 seconds on an iPhone.
Make 10 debit transactions. Pretty normal yeah I can buy 10 tiny things.
    Done.
How easy do people want it? Do you want to just send a bank an email asking for money and get it by return email?
It only takes a little effort to meet the criteria… Co-Op is fine

Doing the things seems fine, but it's the long phone calls that sound off putting. That lowers the hourly rate for me, I hate phone calls so I would count every minute on hold as part of that hourly rate :D

I've decided to take the plunge anyhow because I like free money. The nearest switch date is in 4 weeks time.

Just got an email rejecting me for the initial £75 incentive despite switching 2 monthly DDs, registering and using online and mobile banking, and over 10 ebay transactions via google pay linked to the debit card and depositing £1000 all starting and clearing within a month after the switch date. Am I missing something? The rejection email didn't say the specific reason just repeated the criteria list that I already knew and feel I have satisfied. I've sent them a secure message and asked them to treat it as a complaint as I don't feel they have treated me fairly.
