Thanks again, I found somewhere near that had the W4527 in stock nearby, but I dont understant, how do I get the newer model W4031? Surely if W4527 is in stock there would be no need to offer me the alternative new model?

Or have all the W4527's been replaced and the stock figure is now representative of the W4031 model?

i think the stock level includes both models as i reserved mine on the website and it showed 1 in stock and when i collected i got the newer one.

i went for a store with only 1 left as my theory was they would use up the old 1 first so the less they had left the more chance of a new one(dont know if it made a difference but i did get a newer one)

to be honest most people seem to be getting the newer one(havnt heard of anyone with last years model yet).guess u could always ask to look at it b4 you pay, the model number is plain to see even though its a plain brown outer box.

The 4031 is listed as the same item number so if it isn't in stock, you'll get nothing. The low stock theory is probably correct ie. they use up the listed item before the substitute (not bad for a sub!).

markabuckley, I dont think my CDRW's are finalised. I've even had songs jump midway to other songs in another directory! I'll try a squeaky clean CDR, if that doesn't work.. nothing will!

RE finalizing -just thought I saw in the manual that CD-Rs/RWs have to be finalised before it will read it properly - could explain the problems ..? IE its reading it but not 100% properly

i only reserved mine off the website to pick up instore,dont think anyone has got the old one yet have they so youve got a good chance of the sub:cool:,might be still worth collecting in person if possible as u can have a look before paying.

i didnt finalise my mp3 cdr(will be adding more later) but it plays fine so far.i think you only need to finalise it when your using up tha last free space on it.

I've just picked up a 4031 (new model) from Stockport and the assistant was very apologetic about it being a substitute :-)
