Think I'd rather buy one that includes installation in the price

I saw this too, would like to hear people's views on it and weather or not you'd need to buy a fitting kit ect?
Pete.I'll get me coat!0 -
I bought a very similar one of these from Netto a few months ago. It's excellent, I particularly like the fact that it will play data mp3 disks, so you can fit hours of music onto one disk - no messing about trying to change disks while driving.
The detachable front panel is a good security measure, although a friend with a similar unit was advised by the police to leave the glove box open when the car is unattended because thieves will often break in assuming that the front panel has been stored in the glove box. That might just be the area we live in!
In addition, when the front cover is detached, a red LED light blinks constantly - at night, this could look like a car alarm, so may further deter thieves.
In terms of the fitting, I can't really comment as my dad and boyfriend managed it between them, it took them an hour or so but they achieved it easily and without argument
, and neither has much technical knowledge in that area. I did have to buy an additional wiring adapter as I have a Ford Fiesta, this cost me about £20 but it may be something that's specific to the Ford (you also need a special allen key thing to get the old cassette player out). Halfords should be able to tell you whether you'll need anything extra for your specific model of car.
Hope that helps!0 -
I got a similar from Aldi a month or so ago. Works a treat. Manual is a bit lacking though. Three year warranty. All the bits needed to install provided your car has an ISO connector - if it doesn't the all the audio/car places sell "your car" to ISO adapters. 10 minutes to remove old Cassette playing and install cd player.
My only gripe is that "random play" of a CD/MP3cd isn't random - in that when you put the same CD in, it plays the same 'random' tracks.

I bought a Sony MP3 unit last year which had the ISO connectors and it fitted my 1998 Pug 306 in about 30 mins no problem. I had to buy a bit of plastic for my dash though as the face on most factory fit units are much bigger than the standard units although the actual bodies of the unit are a standard size. I would also recommend, even with an ISO connector, you check the configuration of the cars connector block to ensure they match what the unit needs.
Plastic dash mounts and cable conversion kits for those cars without the ISO connector can be bought on ebay for much cheaper than Halfords wants for them.
Cheers

I bought a Medion CD/MP3 player from Aldi before Christmas.
Sound is good , plays MP3's etc without any problems. Fitting took a matter of seconds with the ISO connector already installed in my Cavalier.
I only have one gripe, when it picks up a traffic flash it tends to drop back to CD rather than back to the original radio channel but all that takes is a press of the CD/Radio button to put right.
Would I buy another from Aldi....... yes.0 -
thx top deal, ill be getting myself one0

the best thing about this is that it has a 3 year guarantee & you can return it under Aldi's 1 year no quibble return policy! where can you go wrong

You go out to your car, it has no visible way to remove the cassette player. You stick a screwdriver behind it to lever it, and half the pastic dashboard breaks off, exposing all the wiring underneath...where can you go wrong
?
No, I think I'll leave it to a "professional", thanks

Good grief, have you no idea of how to do this?
1) Park car in public car park
2) Leave window open
3) Leave car
4) Return 10 minutes later
5) Slide new CD player into the space in your dash
Voila!0
