I just got my new model checked for stock and then asked if i was given option of which model i was given they said depends on what they have in stock so i asked to see before buying.
It came through and it was the new model great and what makes it better i had £30 of nectar points so brings the price down to £36.99 not bad for a player thats selling for £179 in halfords.

Ive got one from ALDI last week, at 50notes I thought it was a bargain
Ive got a Ford and I have to get new wiring and new faschia, total cost is around £28
added cost which I didnt expect, so if u got a motor, double check the connectors

£28 seems a bit steep - there's a couple of companies on ebay that do fascias etc for about £6 (as opposed to the £17 normally cheapish places like car audio direct wanted) as well as cheap iso connectors etc.

connecters should be the same (iso connecters)think they will plug straight in your clio but u will need an adapter if you want your steering controls to work.

Seems like a great deal for both, especially so for the Kenwood. I've got a Fiat Uno (93 1.0 FIRE model) and a JVC kd-s721r cd player. Unfrotunatley as there was just a casette player in before, the JVC cd player I have has a gap around it as its smaller than the tape player was. Anyway, this cd player skips all the time, I'm sick of it, any slight bump and it cuts out for a couple of seconds. At times ive felt like smashing it up its that infuriating.
This could be down to either: The cd player I bought (the jvc one) was 2nd hand, may be its just a bit knackered; it could be because I don't have the plastic rim to fil the gap, meaning it skips; or it could be that this model is crap, I've read reviews of people saying similar things.

Whatever the reason for it skipping, I want a knew one as I could do with the mp3 cd support anyway. What I was wondering is, as I have already got a cd player installed does that mean I won't need any adapters etc. If I buy the Kenwood? If it helps a link to my current cd player is here: http://www.recommendedbuys.co.uk/electronics/car-audio/jvc-kd-s721r.htm , its got all the technical info there.

Also, where could I get a plastic rim to fill the gap around the cd player if I opt for the Kenwood, for a cheap price? Finally, some little gits broke off my aerial a while ago overnight, is there any place to get these, on ebay I found this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36676&item=7983254258&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
    will that do the job?

EDIT- can anyone explain why the Kenwood cd player is better than the Aldi one? I know Kenwood is a much better make but doesn't the Aldi one have anti-shock whereas the Kenwood doesn't?
And where did that sig come from!! I'm pretty damn sure I didnt write that lol!

    hi sam

it could well be the problem with your jvc is the missing trim,it will have antishock but that will only be for a number of seconds and if your cd player is moving around over every bump it will still jump as the antishock will have run out.i presume u have the mounting cage with it?

if u go for the kenwood this will come complete with the trim so should fit fine as long as your uno has a standerd size radio hole 7"x 2"approx,if not u will have to buy a bit of extra trim to fill in the gap.

your wiring will be fine as your jvc has iso connecters as does the kenwood so should just plug and play.

as for the aerial, check with the e-bay guy that its suitable for a 1993 uno then as long as yours is snapped but still has the bit to screw it into left it should be ok.

you will find the kenwood will have antishock its standered these days so kenwood havnt bothered mentioning it.

the aldi one is a good unit at a good price but a lot of people would rather pay the extra £16 to have a brand name,u get 12 months theft insurance with the kenwood also but only 12 months warrenty, guess u pays your money and takes your choice, all i can say is ive got the kenwood unit and its excellent

My W4031 skips a fair bit the moment you hit a bump but this is probably due to my dirty CDRW (no !!!!!!!). You'd think that it could buffer a whole MP3 in memory.

it could be your mp3 recording and what speed youve burnt it at,i tried a old mp3 disc i had lying around(about 3 years old) and it was skipping on certain tracks.burnt a new mp3 disc yesterday at slow burn speed and this one plays fine.if it only skips on certain tracks its probably your recording but if its the whole disc i should make a couple more(using different brand cdrs if poss)if it continues to skip take it back as its not working right.

heathen - thanks very much for your post. You've answered all my questions there and I can't wait to get the Kenwood now. Thanks for all your help!

I've just been in to my local Argos (Macclesfield) and went to get item: 500/3394. It wasn't in stock, but when I asked about the newer model 4031 they said its not listed as an alternative on the computer so I couln't have that instead. Hmmm... Is it my Argos branch being tight or are you guys just getting lucky?
