Chase request for information

Ive just received a message from Chase asking me for further personal details. I text them asking whether a request for income details was necessary? They said it was necessary to monitor money laundering?

As they dad info was needed for my app to continue to work

Is this a legitimate request

Did the message come in the app or via a text message?   If via the app just go ahead.  If a text, be very cautious.

Yes i went through thecapp to ensure it was legit. Mind i didn't like the nuance from Chase saying the info was neefed for the app to continue to work as usual. Implying that without the info, thete might be consequences

Others have reported the app will stop working if the information is not supplied.

They have to warn people what happens if they ignore the request, otherwise lots of people will ignore the request and then complain that they can't use their bank account any more.

Banks are required to gather this information to comply with anti money laundering laws.  There will be consequences for them if they do not collect the information and/or comply with the laws.  Therefore they may choose to stop doing business with customer who refuse to provide the information.

I understand. Mind with personal data being such a "hot" topic it always pays to be cautious

I filled it out 2 days ago.

Entered what I wanted them to know.

That was it. All done.
