Who is the Registered Keeper Between Selling Car and DVLA Updating Their Record?

Indeed, C54.
What I was trying to illustrate (not very well) was that the advice of West Yorkshire Police (amongst others) was not really very helpful. Whilst I would not dream of keeping a car where I was not the RK (unless it was on hire or lease) lots of people do for various reasons. I think the best advice would be for them to say it is "advisable where possible" for the person keeping the vehicle to be the RK. The term "should" indicates (to me anyway) some sort of necessity and there is none.0 -
The upkeep of WYP's website is almost certainly not delegated to a police officer but to an unqualified civilian - possibly the Chief Constable's nephew on work experience.TooManyPoints said:Indeed, C54.

That's not to say you'd get a more accurate statement from a PC.2 -
Of course it affects the answer!Nsar1 said:
How does it affect the answer of who is the registered keeper in this situation? It is simply the context to why I am asking the question.Jenni_D said:Don't you think that's a critical piece of information that should have been provided much earlier? 🤷♀️🤦♀️
You are the RK until the DVLA process the V5C change. Once it is processed it takes retrospective effect.
How does that help your buyer?2 -
Question: who could declare the car SORN during this transitional period?Okell said:

I'm not sure how that would help anyone. Worse, it would leave you vulnerable, since you have no control over the car. It is you who would be responsible were the car to be used on the road.0 -
The bigger question, which has been alluded to earlier, is why the V5 is not recognised ?Have you been receiving V11 tax reminders ?What date was the last V5 issued on the vehicle check site - https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ - does that tally with the V5 held ?If not what was the date of the V5 held ?

So I can declare SORN on a car I no longer own and have no access to, but the person who does own it and who is the keeper of it can't. This state of limbo where one person is the keeper but not yet recorded as the registered keeper and another person is recorded as the keeper, but isn't the actual keeper is why I asked the question.Car_54 said:

Bearing in mind the answers others have already given as to who the RK is, who do you think could declare it SORN?Nsar1 said:

(Hint: Are you still the RK until DVLA process the V5C change?)0 -
The date on the check site is correct (for the date we purchased the car). Yes we have been getting tax remindersmolerat said:The bigger question, which has been alluded to earlier, is why the V5 is not recognised ?Have you been receiving V11 tax reminders ?What date was the last V5 issued on the vehicle check site - https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ - does that tally with the V5 held ?If not what was the date of the V5 held ?0 -
So are you saying the V5C number is recognised on the vehicleenquiry website but not on the DVLA website?Nsar1 said:

Are you sure you input the correct number on the DVLA site? No typos anywhere?1
