If cruise was set to 59mph what speed were you recorded at on the ticket?
59 which I keep it at to make sure I'm not over the 60. I'm not going to slam on the brakes and drop 10mph immediately, I'll move over when safe to do so and slow down. Remember not all traffic follows the rules so if there's someone behind not paying attention it's easy to case an accident. Always done this and never had a problem before. Safety first.

Dont think anyone is suggesting that, unless you are unable to see the limit on the gantry a good 100+ yards or so in front of you and gradually slow down before getting to it. In theory you would have only needed to drop 5 or 6mph anyway, if that.Alondonboy said:daveyjp said:Its advisable not to use cruise in variable limits when they are operating for this exact reason. Depends on the cruise control, the one on my car detects speed limit signs and on a change prompts me to change to the new limit via the HUD.daveyjp said:Its advisable not to use cruise in variable limits when they are operating for this exact reason. 59 on your speedo is probably closer to 56/57 in reality. I always set mine for a couple of MPH above the limit.59 which I keep it at to make sure I'm not over the 60. Cruise Control set at 59 and you get a ticket stating you were doing 59?
What make of car has such an accurate speedo / CC ?
Most read high by about 4% - so set at 59 most are only doing around 56 in reality.2 -

My car doesn't but satnav does and didn't alert me or prompt me to, although not using that as an excuse. Just the fact that by the time I'd seen the sign and was in the process of slowing I could see the next set to 60 so never made it down. Got tagged somewhere in between.

The images you've been shown are not necessarily those they'll use, or of the same quality.Alondonboy said:facade said:Do you have dashcam evidence that you passed a gantry set to 60, then the next one changed from 60 to 50 while you were watching it, but before you passed it it went back to 60? (Basically a continuous run showing that every gantry was showing 60 as you passed under it)If so, fill in the NIP nominating yourself as the driver and ignore any offer of a fixed penalty or course, then when it progresses to court plead not guilty.Otherwise you can ask for any photographs "to aid in identifying the driver", they usually show your car and the gantry speed in the same frame. The camera enforces the speed showing on the gantry.I'm afraid that it is likely that you missed the 50 on a gantry and went under it at 60. Normally when the gantry changes to a new speed the camera doesn't enforce it for a few seconds to allow for cars that are too close to slow down safely.Tbh, you should be offered a course for 59 in a 50, the cheapest least risk & lowest stress option is to take it.
I would have had dashcam footage to review but likely overwritten by now. There is a photograph online of 3 images together but the image of the gantry speed limit cannot be read, this was part of my question. Is that evidence they would rely on which would not be conclusive?1 -
So the cruise control was not set to 59Alondonboy said:Iceweasel said:Cruise Control set at 59 and you get a ticket stating you

What was it set to?
I would have had mine set to 64.2
