  • @coupleuk:  Is that poetry ? ? !

I reckon that anyone who can work out the trade-off between import and export p/kWh has got to be a mathematician.

  • I tried getting a quote for the Tomato Agile tariff and it offered this range, with unit price from 8.5p to 15p. It looks too good to be true, comparing with Octopus Agile (lowest unit price around 17p these days).
Could anyone who is currently on this Tomato Agile confirm that this is the actual price range you get recently?
    Thanks!

  • Hello, Just thought I would add to this with my experience so far with Tomato energy.  Signed up to thier Tomato Intensity Fixed contract on 11th October.  Seemed to be ok with contracts emailed etc and the links to Mywatts.  Unfortuently I'm now 5 weeks in and still no data on this platform.  I have emailed 4 times and no response back and spoken twice on the phone to people who barely gave me an apology and told me they could just "raise the ticket" and couldn't give me a date when I would have the data on Mywatts.  Left Scottish Power were the app was very good and you could see hourly where your usage was etc....... now at the moment anyway we have gone to completetly blind and awaiting our first bill.  Customer service once you have signed up seems shocking to say the least.

After hours of calls and emails to TE explaining the timing/charging errors in MyWatts and in my 1st bill, I decided to call it a day and leave.

Even leaving was a challenge as TE seem to think they don't need to follow the Ofgem rules on outstanding balances and bill dates.

Yesterday I received the October bill from TE and this has exactly the same billing errors as the 1st bill, so I am now chasing them for a refund on both the 1st and 2nd bills.

I'm glad I have parted company with them. It is hard to see how they can remain in business with such diabolical IT systems and billing errors. Unless Ofgem are asleep at the wheel, they must surely be looking closely at what is going on.

If they can't get it right on a relatively simple fixed unit cost tou tariff, what chance have they got of handling dynamic pricing like Agile?

  • Very interesting  -  the non price related factors to be included in the calculations

They have had a massive increase in employees so I am sure they have plenty of people looking for something to do...

But they're unlikely to help the consumer, they're a classic example of Regulatory Capture.
  • Despite the problems some are clearly experiencing, my first week on Tomato Lifestyle has gone well.

      1. MyWatts works well. It updates every 3 hours with detailed usage and cost both current and historical so I can check for accuracy. In this it’s actually better than Octopus which updates the following day.

      2. I’m equaling my average cost so far this year of around 15pkwh with Octopus Agile, but with much less work.

      3. Standing daily Charge is low at 43p including Vat and fixed for 12 months.

      4. So far my Gas Tracker is unaffected and I still enjoy my free coffee. I even won 800 Octopoints on spin the wheel.
