It may well be a smart meter but it doesn’t work as such as it doesn’t relay information to my supplier or provide me with any additional information other than a standard meter reading. The installer explained this to me as he was unable to fully set it up due to the lack of connection.MP1995 said:
So what you call the regular meter is infact the smart meter, the thing gathering dust is the IHD (in home display)rceebear said:@MarzipanCrumble I had a smart meter installed as an Octopus customer and it doesn't work as no signal here at all. They couldn't even complete the set up as it requires a connection to do so. It is just gathering dust and I submit manual readings from the regular meter by the consumer unit as before.
Reading the terms of the free energy events I have still signed up and been accepted. They have promised people in our situation we will be reimbursed the average additional use.Best wins; GoPro, £2K, Brittany week, festival tix twice, Bath break, Sweden spa break, iPhone x2, £250 Amazon x2, tech bundle, 55" TV, Haven break, £1K, Smeg mixer, 3 night spa break, Greenhouse, posh tent, house plants, 2 pairs boots, posh mattress, year tailored supps, £250 lingerie, £150 buyagift, £250 hotel0 -

Sotomorrow the price is likely negative for Agile users. If an Agile user has signed up does the price become 0p over their normal use?

If I currently use next to nothing during the day (solar & battery) and tomorrow decided to fill the car and the battery (max could push in would be around 3kWh to battery and possibly 7kWh into car) what would I potentially be credited?
I could probably run a cleaning cycle on the oven too for another 3 kWh or so…1 -
13kW at eg 22.8p per kW (our EV normal day rate) = £2.96.tim_p said:If I currently use next to nothing during the day (solar & battery) and tomorrow decided to fill the car and the battery (max could push in would be around 3kWh to battery and possibly 7kWh into car) what would I potentially be credited?

You could run immersion heaters for an hour as well (free hot water), put the washing machine and dishwasher on.tim_p said:If I currently use next to nothing during the day (solar & battery) and tomorrow decided to fill the car and the battery (max could push in would be around 3kWh to battery and possibly 7kWh into car) what would I potentially be credited?

You would be billed for those 10kWh, then should be credited to cancel out the cost.tim_p said:If I currently use next to nothing during the day (solar & battery) and tomorrow decided to fill the car and the battery (max could push in would be around 3kWh to battery and possibly 7kWh into car) what would I potentially be credited?…
What you'd save is (i) whatever export payment you get for exporting 3kWh instead of putting it in the battery, and (ii) whatever it would have cost to charge the car at a different time,

I'll make minimal use of tomorrow's session, but I got everything I wanted out of Sunday's one. Still, every little helps.

It's plunge pricing on Agile, anyway, so I'll be paid to fill the car up for about 5 hours. I assume I'll be paid the negative price for what I'd normally have used and zero for the extra, so slightly worse off for that hour.0

I would assume you'd get the benefit of any negative pricing during the session. If that didn't happen I'd be questioning it if I were you. As the mechanism of payment is to credit your account with any energy used above your normal usage, it would be very mean of them to debit your account because you used negatively priced energy.Netexporter said:It's plunge pricing on Agile, anyway, so I'll be paid to fill the car up for about 5 hours.
