Perfect timing for me, just got the email. Will get home about midday tomorrow after a few days away so will heat up the water for free and do some laundry.

All that remains to be done is to decide how to spend the 60p or so I will save. It's proving to be a bumper month having won a massive 800 Octopoints (worth £1) by spinning the wheel.

Many a mickle makes a muckle as my Grandad used to say.....

(p.s. I'm saving up to buy a book of postage stamps, but a long way to go yet)

Thanks for signing up to Free Electricity! Our first session is Thurs 15 Aug, 1-2pm.

If you're already an Octoplus member, you'll be enrolled in time for the session.

If you're not an Octoplus member yet, you'll miss the first one, but you'll be notified about future events.

If we check your account and find that you're not eligible, we'll send you an email to let you know.

Thanks @MP1995 for the heads up 😍

Are these sessions open to Agile users? Agile only goes down to 3p tomorrow.

    Yes, from the FAQ:

Whether it's worth taking part largely depends on what the energy prices are doing at that time. For example, if it's a negative price period, your power is already better than free. However, if your price is above zero, you're welcome to take part and benefit from our super-green sessions.

So you'd pay the Agile rate for your "normal" usage during that hour, and then anything additional above your normal usage is free.

The email emphasises this is the first session, I wonder how many there will be?

I've thought of another way to make a few more pennies - stop the battery charging itself on tomorrow mornings sunshine, fill it with free electricity at 13:00 then export it back during the evening peak

    You lucky wotsits!
I’m still waiting for my smart meter to become smart.
I’ve had recent communication with Octopus about it. They even gave me an appointment for a telephone call to remotely activate it - despite me explaining more than once (with photographic evidence) that I have no communication hub!  What a surprise I need an engineer visit …. and the call ended with them apologising that there are still no appointments available in my area.
    That’s 18 months now…

I kept being told that so I emailed the CEO (greg@octopus.energy) lo and behold I got a reply back the following day with an appointment for two weeks later. Give it a go it worked for me.

As far as I can see our use has been zero for 13:00 and 13:30 every day since start of August. It's actually forecast to be overcast and raining until 15:00 so could benefit by filling the battery during the "free" hour.
