Ahhh passwords don't you hate them, and how can you remember them without using the same one or writing them down?
Hope Pigpen got off on holiday OK. Thanks for the Flylady positive vibes and good wishes, DH has got the job!! This is wonderful mainly because he feels well enough to work after 9 months off. I have no doubt it will take some adjusting to but he will start 3 days a week and there could be the possibility of building up to full time.
I am tired after 2 long days at the paid stuff. I have sorted some clean washing and done a few bits of ironing. Happier and less anxious today so it's all good!7 -
Well done to Mr Yorkshirelass.
Passwords - huh, I once borrowed the 'bright' idea of using the initial letters of the first line of a song.......yep, I've never yet recalled which song I used.
Honeybear - We had a Panas0nic for years without using the oven or grill; crazy, as you said. Now I use the oven for most meals and baking; hardly ever use the gas Stanley (Aga-type) any more so gas readings are 0 for several months of the year.
We had a hugely hot drive home on Monday; 42 degrees on the M25 near Heathrow. I was hot and bothered anyway as we'd dropped in to see Mum first and she was dressed in a long-sleeved sweatshirt, the window was closed and the water jug not easily reachable. I rectified that and maybe she chose the garment herself, but I won't be sorry when she moves to her new home. And talking of which, we have provisionally reserved a studio (all the rooms in her potential care home are studio bedsit-type) with patio doors into the garden. She has the assessment tomorrow and they aim to finish the report within 24hrs so she may even be able to move in at the weekend. DB will be with her for the assessment, which is by both the main manager and the manager of the dementia unit; I guess they hedge their bets. She doesn't have dementia (as far as we know) but obviously there are significant effects on short-term memory after a stroke, so I'm nervous in case she "fails" and has to go in the secure unit on the 2nd floor, which clearly won't have easy garden access. It's like waiting for your child's exam results (I imagine). I've written a list (of course) of things to ensure are covered in the assessment. DB and I have other shared lists - pre moving in lists; people to notify; not quite a list of lists but it's getting that way. I naturally think in detailed lists; DB doesn't but he acknowledges that with 2 of us sharing the load, there has to be some sort of tracking.
Got back from Dorset, cooled off for an hour then went to zumba.
Did gymswim this morning.
One load washing done.
Rang one of Mum's friends.
Added to lists.
Paid cc bill.
Checked greenhouse, picked a cucumber and some tomatoes. Pulled a beetroot so we had frittata and salad for dinner. Plus the 'village greengages' which Mr N and I went out and picked earlier.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning all. Paid stuff today but there should also be time for flying.
Well done to Mr YSL.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Morning all. Great news about Mr YSL’s success - congratulations!
Hope your mum’s assessment goes smoothly, Narc0, so that she can have the room with easy garden access.I am sat up in bed with a delicious cuppa, having had a decent night’s sleep. Not surprising, after a busy day yesterday.
Made a vegetable Wellington and tidied round everywhere (DH volunteered to hoover 😄) before getting the train and Metro into the big city, where I had coffee with Ozzy the Bull turning his head to look at me and rolling his eyes ( maybe it was the sight of my hat!). Met DGS1+2 off their 3rd train in 3 hours, then took 2 more trains back to our local station and my car home. Lots to chat about! After lunch I remembered to put a slow roast in the oven before the boys helped me empty the bedroom loft - very little to throw away, but much to catalogue and associated anecdotes to record over the coming months/years. Then the 3 of us spent 2 hours in the front garden, hacking away at the rampant chocolate vine and almost filling the green bin. That has given J the gardener a lot of help in what was going to be a lengthy job on his own.
DS1 and family arrived at 5.30 and with everyone’s help I managed to get a full roast dinner on the table by 6.30. Today is DG2’s 12th birthday, so dessert was her favourite strawberries and ice cream with meringue nests, and she had presents to unwrap. DH filled the DW and washed up the rest.
It’s much cooler this morning after a night of gentle drizzle. It’s laid the dust and pollen, and the garden smells fresh.
This morning I am going back to the big city with the Old Wives to see the Victorian Radicals exhibition. Unfortunate timing, but it was booked long before DD talked dates with me. The boys are looking forward to painting models with DH, and he is taking them to the war games club this evening (which means that I can put my feet up and watch the new WDYTYA with no guilt). Rosie didn’t get a proper walk yesterday, so the boys and I will fit one in this afternoon. Totally crazy but such fun 😍. I must remember to water the pots at some point…. Otherwise I don’t think there will be time for any flying apart from the dailies.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx7 -
morning all
Well done Mr YL
yesterday i went out for lunch with my friend and her hubby, then back to theirs to natter. So no flying, other than drying laundry, but it was a good day.
Got my yearly mammogram result back…phew!
Paid stuff today. Hope everyone has a good day.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear7 -
I have 2 houses but seems to be doing less cleaning than ever 🤣
Today is a do massive amount of admin and calls day though...so I'm off to make coffee and a list7 -
Well done Mr YSL.I hope you mother can have the garden room Narco - that would be so much nicer.A busy day for you @ionafan but I hope you enjoy it.Excellent news @ValliI don't know where this morning went but I seem to have achieved almost nothing other than researching and ordering some skin care products and doing one load of washing. We've just had lunch and in 15 mins I'm taking A to the optician so I'd better get the second load going so it can 'do' whilst we're out.7

Started with a 'funny' throat yesterday afternoon. Didn't feel so good in the evening so I had a not Lems!p and went to bed at 9.
Woke up at 4 feeling awful. Phoned work at 8.30 and said I'm not coming and then fell back into bed.
I did make my bed at one point but then got back in it as I couldn't get warm. This afternoon I put my fleece on over my nightie and put out the brown bin for emptying in the morning, fed the birds, filled the birdbath and hedgehog's dish, and watered my hanging basket. Then flopped again. Dizzy.
Dr Google says possibly flu or covid. Or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever 🤒. I've been watching CBeebies as a distraction.
On a positive note my winter dressing gown now fits me. But I've had to take it off as I'm now twot.
I am not very good at being ill. It triggers.my anxiety.
Love to all.

Hope you feel better soon Round. Apart from dailies the only flying here today was ironing three garments.Spend less now, work less later.6

*Get well soon* vibes heading your way Round. Whatever it is just stay warm and cool as necessary until it passes. Horrible feeling ill when there's no-one to soothe your fevered brow. Thanks CoG, I hadn't thought of them. I'd got as far as Lidl's version of B!$coff with a bit of melted butter as a base but your idea of crushed ameretti sounds much nicer.Massive congratulations to Mr YL!Have walked the dog, showered etc, written a thank you note and a GWS card for our 82 year old neighbour in hospital after a heart attack, and spent the day at my desk doing much needed admin. I also found the new laser cartridges I'd forgotten I ordered until I checked my Ebay purchases which are necessary and I'm now trying the breadmaker on Dough Mode so that I can remove the Paddle before baking the bread. I want to be able to make a few loaves, slice them, freeze them and use them for sandwiches without having to worry about fiddling with them when I'm busy. I've been trying shop bread recently for the first time since 2012 and it's pretty horrible stuff. If I don't hear from the neighbour's son how she's doing I'll ring the hospital tomorrow. We were due to go out to lunch today and she was fine yesterday so it's thrown me a bit. It's the British Firework Championships tonight and tomorrow night so we need to soundproof the sitting room and corral the dog and cats in there before it gets dark. Belovéd will need to put the curtains back up as part of the soundproofing too.Better is good enough.6
