Anyone have a Barclaycard already (Platinum here if it makes any difference) and applied? I just took out an HSBC BT card and closed an old M&S card so going to give it a month or two if this is still running then but wonder if it will affect it? Have a Tesco too which will be Barclays eventually too!
Barclaycard don't allow applications for new credit cards unless you haven't had a Barclaycard within the last 6 months. Tesco Bank cards don't matter (yet).

If you are accepted it'll be because they haven't matched your application to your profile.
Thank you, I'll leave it anyway, I still need to chase TopCashBack about the HSBC one which at least is £25 in cash rather than vouchers and I don't spend tonnes on Amazon

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Thanks for the heads-up. I might well not have noticed this for a while without. It's over 30 years since I last had a Barclaycard, so no eligibility problem. Quickly accepted. And I've had Amazon credit cards before (Halifax, MBNA, NewDay), so I've already had a very handy £50 added to my Amazon account balance. Now I just have to wait for the physical card and PIN to arrive before I can register through the app.

    Two minor disappointments:
    1. It seems that I'm forced to use their phone app - no mention of a web browser alternative (which I'd prefer);
    2. the credit limit is a bit on the low side (lower than on any of my other three cards), but it'll certainly be enough for the way that I'll use it.

They've set my statement date to something a little inconvenient, so I'll want to change it. I was told that I can do that in the app, but it seems only by changing the payment date. I'll have to work out what payment date equates to the statement date that I'd like. Does anyone know how this works with Barclaycard, please? Will I then get a fixed payment date and a wobbly statement date (to take account of different length months), or do I get a fixed statement date (ignoring weekends) and wobbly payment dates?

Oh, and how are statements issued? Do I have to download a PDF on my phone before I can transfer it to my big computer by USB? That'll be a bit tedious.

And yet it refused to allow me to register without both the card and the PIN. I tried.

very strange - from memory I completed the application on the phone browser and got a button saying 'finish setting up the application on the app' (or similar).

clicking that button took me to Google play which downloaded the app onto my phone and then the app opened and it's asked for my name, date of birth and a few other details which allowed the app to find my card and allowed me to activate the app by uploading a driver's license and a short video

Reading the small print, existing Barclaycard holders can't apply but they will be allowing this, soon.

With most Barclaycards you can download statements from online servicing on a computer.

But (for God knows what reason) Amazon and Barclays make a big song and dance on the application page that the Amazon card is app-only card. (Either they couldn't be bothered updating their old janky website for the Amazon or some Barclays manager has a bonus tied to app downloads I reckon - they're pushing everything to app these days, for instance they're deleting the ability to join Barclays Blue Rewards from the website in September for no reason. Okay maybe because they can't be bothered updating the website with the new Apple TV benefits which I just checked and they're not on there.)

So whether statements will be websiteable or not is anyone's guess - someone who has the card could ask support I suppose or just wait for the first statement in a month's time and see what happens.

Actually I have a Barclaycard Platinum and my statements don't show up in the Barclays app :D I think the e-document system can only be linked to one app and I uninstalled the redundant Barclaycard app a while ago so I have to use the website.

The app does let you download the PDFs thankfully at least.

This sounded ideal for me as I use Amazon a lot and have Amazon Prime so it could save me a fair bit of money.  I don’t have any credit cards or loans or bad credit history so thought it would be easy.  Unfortunately when I tried to apply the drop down menu for Mrs, Mr etc doesn't work and you can’t proceed with the application .

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to fix it?  I use an iPad for all my computing stuff if that makes any difference.

It sounds like a browser problem. Have you tried using a different browser? If you have a laptop or desktop computer available, it might be worth doing it on that. (FWIW, I used Firefox on Windows 11 for my application, and had no difficulty.)
