Money Moral Dilemma: Should we still give our son £1,000 instead of a puppy?

Maybe give the older son the promised £1,000 and donate the 'other' £1,000 to a fantastically good cause: https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-family-of-john-huntGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

It sounds as if your wife has a favourite, you should prevent it. You have agreed to give your elder son £1000, honour your word. Why are you considering breaking your word because your younger son has changed his mind?1

Or don’t breed animals for profit when there are already thousands in shelters. Just my opinion 🤷♀️12

Yes of course. Not sure if you are still paying for the retriever puppy for your younger son but if not you should give both sons a £1000 and sell the rest of the puppies.0

Sounds like your dog is a real golden goose! Why not give them each £1k, take a holiday on one of Martin's 0% credit cards and then get the doggy pregnant again ASAP to pay it off? Everybody's happy!0

Number 1 Stop with the promises
Number 2 When you have something and want to give something to someone .. you do it then and there.
Ok … perhaps …Give the £1000 to your eldest son who is expecting it, at some point to do whatever he chooses with it.If your younger son didn’t ask you to bred the dog and only express that he and his girlfriend might like to get one.Maybe give your younger son the same amount if you have it to give, so he can put it towards a dog of his choosing when he’s ready to make a solid commitment. However If he did ask you to breed the dogs with the intention of having one; only to change his mind and no longer wants the dog, especially fickle reasons and you don’t feel to give him no money for wasting your time … I totally get it also!!0 -
I'd give the son to whom you promised the £1k the cash as he's been led to expect it and it'd be unfair to snatch it away from under his nose, but I'd give the son who decided he didn't want a Labrador; he'd rather have a retriever, absolutely nothing.
He clearly isn't interested in the welfare of individual animals and regards them as no more than animated furniture.
Your !!!!!! had a litter of puppies solely so that he could have one (what in heaven's name made you think that was a good idea?) yet he felt no concern about rejecting the little one at some point. I hope he doesn't want a blue eyed son and reject it at birth if it's brown eyed .... shallow is not a good look.9 -
Give him the money, not his fault his brother changed his mind. Hope you didn’t pay for the other dog ! I’m surprised it’s your wife and not you who doesn’t want to give him the money, it’s usually the other way round 😊Good luck sorting it out

Don't give either of them any money and use it to get your dog spayed. She doesn't deserve to be used as a tool for you to make money from. Animals are not inanimate objects to do with as you like, just because you can. You know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Poor "pet"!12
