Evri notify me of delivery and there is an option to update delivery details.
Dod you not get a notification?
'Behind my front door ' -Couriers are not going to open closed doors.0 -
Ah so it's my fault the delivery was put in the bin. I loved reading the Olympic level mental gymnastics needed to reach that conclusion.

I worked for the royal mail, there are only two normal places mail is allowed to be delivered, bring it back to the sorting office if customer is not in, or when the customer answers the door and takes parcel.
a customer cannot accept a parcel by standing outside the closed door, it needs to be open to show the customer actually resides there.
I almost got the sack by giving out parcel that way, as the person at the front door wasn't the customer!! and claimed they were.
and if you left it behind a wheelie bin or in it and it got stolen,( without prior customer agreement )you are in deep troubleChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

Times must have changed
My postman has left items on the front doorstep.
This week I got a card through the door- "parcel left behind blue bin"2 -
that isn't allowed,it's all about security of the mail.
many a times I had dvds that didn't fit in letterbox,I had to bring them back to sorting office and leave a "shut" notice card in letterbox stating , you weren't in, , your parcel is at sorting office, please collect it with ID or ask for new delivery date.
once I tried to force one in and it got stuck
unless you have left a special instruction in advance, such as leave with neighbour, or in outhouse, this should be with royal mail in advanceChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

it isn't allowed, put complaint in to sorting office, postie will get reminded of the rules.
I think private couriers are getting lazy, I won an eBay auction for a dvd, I got buzz at door entry system, I live in. a flat on 1st floor, there are only two floors.
I said in you come, door is open.
I waited and waited, eventually I went downstairs, he had left my parcel at the front door of flat on the pavement.
another time he left a parcel with a neighbour I don't even talk to or like.
I do remember the 1970s of mum getting things via white arrow for Kay's catalogue and all my stuff mum ordered always being left with a neighbour, without our permission.
the van driver would knock on doors to see which neighbour would take our parcel in when mum was at workChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

That practice is now commonplace. Contrary to the theme of this thread, I would find it a major inconvenience if we went back to delivery services requiring someone always be in the house to physically accept delivery - we're not in the 50's anymore.
I have parcels left outside my house multiple times every week. Touch wood, our household has yet to have a parcel go missing. Fortunately someone is generally stays home every day (and I can't say we'd order things if we intended to go on holiday). Occasionally they'll leave it in a bin if it's raining hard, and I appreciate them doing it (they tell you when they've done it).
It doesn't help the OP didn't return to his property for several days after delivery. AFAIK Evri doesn't have public sorting offices, and if they'd tried to redeliver it the next day and the day after it would have still failed and been returned.Know what you don't2 -

The sorting office is on the next town and collecting by 10am is not possible for those who have children to drop off at school or nursery.0 -
leaving it outside is allowed as long as permission is granted in advance!!
that's my point, couriers and even royal mail drivers, postmen taken it on them to guess what to do, when they know the rules, and they can see no special instruction are in place for that deliveryChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed.
