The MK0 from the early 60s was even better!
Obviously, one of these would be approximately 100 thousand million times better!

Which I suppose, proves that the first one is by far the better looking. You can see the curved side window, and the side rib, although technically this is a Consul Capri.

I'd certainly rather have a rust free one of these (-preferably a GT) in the garage to drive on dry days than that electric monstrocity. The blue is a far better colour too.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

The same money (or less) buys you a lovely German EV, a reliable Korean EV or an American EV that comes complete with its own public charging infrastructure.

That really is the problem for these Fords.  Even the new, smaller, cheaper Capri is poorly priced against the dominant EV brand.

You should have got the Consul Classic, combining the best bits of both.

My uncle had a succession of 105Es, when there was nothing left to weld to he got another and resumed welding that one, they made Lancias look rust proof!

So, I looked online at the new Capri and it looks rather more like the later Escort would have evolved to.  If I ignore the expectation generated from the model name, the car looks like one I'd be happy to consider.  However, it is from a starting price higher than I paid for my TM3 LR, so achieving significant sales volumes might present a challenge.
Base OTR Price  £48,075  I specced one up with the gadgets I'd choose and it comes to £54,275.  A similar spec Mach-E is £54,380.

I'd only consider it if  1) I had somewhere to park and charge it  and 2) I had enough money to want that as my sensible/daily driver and a nice MK1 Capri to play with https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1719845
You'd get a pretty good 3000S for that sort of money.
I know which I would prefer
This one?  https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1685338     If I was paying near £50K for a classic I'd need 1) somewhere to keep it under cover  2) a boring modern car to go to the tip/ garden centre/ supermarket in.
The wheels are wrong with that one
Should be like this for original 5.5" *13 - makes me wonder whether the rest of the car did not start life as a 1.3 L

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

The new "Capri" is just like most other EV's nowadays - the front end is like a slab - no design gone in to it !
It looks as if the bonnet level is 3 feet off the ground
They also missed a trick by not incorporating twin round headlamps

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

I think we can conclude that most of us are not the target market ;)

I'm old enough, but not rich enough, and I get dewy eyed over my old MG Montego and the Rover P6 (both of which I got rid of because I was sweeping up too much of them off the drive, and that was decades ago) but I'd want an original, not a modern copy.

..it would probably have been more appropriate to call it a "Scorpio"...   :)    .......another travesty of a design!!!

I guess there going to be no John Player Special but they could as least remake The Professionals.

4-5 would drive a gold one and 3-7 a silver one.

Martin Shaw is still alive, but he is nearly 80!

They did a remake in 1999 (CI5: The New Professionals), with Edward Woodward playing Mr Hudson, Lexa Doig was in it- which is about the most positive thing I can say tbh.
