At 74p per gallon in 1979 and at 22.7mpg that would be 3.3p per mile, so the new Capri ought to be somewhat cheaper to run if charged at home.MouldyOldDough said:Will fuel be available at 70's prices too?

So, I looked online at the new Capri and it looks rather more like the later Escort would have evolved to. If I ignore the expectation generated from the model name, the car looks like one I'd be happy to consider. However, it is from a starting price higher than I paid for my TM3 LR, so achieving significant sales volumes might present a challenge.

I've seen the pictures now.If you almost completely close your eyes, ignore the fact that it has too many doors, and only look at the curved back passenger window it does look a little bit like the old Capri. They missed the most obvious styling features of the original- the rib along the sides and the vents in front of the back wheel though.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

So Ford put a different dress on a VW and call it a name anyone under 50 has little connection to?

I know which I prefer. In fact this demonstrates the blandness of today's cars, it could be a Renault, Kia or anything else really.3

This is a proper Capri*, you can see the resemblance *Like 99% of cars, the Mk1 is by far the best looking, and usually the best put together too, before the bean counters made cost savings improvements *Like 99% of cars, the Mk1 is by far the best looking, and usually the best put together too, before the bean counters made cost savings improvements
