Base OTR Price £48,075 I specced one up with the gadgets I'd choose and it comes to £54,275. A similar spec Mach-E is £54,380.Grumpy_chap said:So, I looked online at the new Capri and it looks rather more like the later Escort would have evolved to. If I ignore the expectation generated from the model name, the car looks like one I'd be happy to consider. However, it is from a starting price higher than I paid for my TM3 LR, so achieving significant sales volumes might present a challenge.
I'd only consider it if 1) I had somewhere to park and charge it and 2) I had enough money to want that as my sensible/daily driver and a nice MK1 Capri to play with https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1719845I need to think of something new here...0 -
You'd get a pretty good 3000S for that sort of money.NBLondon said:

I know which I would prefer
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
Manufacturer recycles badge. Hold the front page.DullGreyGuy said:
Nice of Volvo Geely to save Ford having to do any styling work of their own.

Thats unfair, they've clearly rounded the rear passenger windows to make them (vaguely) look like the namesake.Mildly_Miffed said:

Puzzled why when the Mac E didn't sell why they thought lets release another electric vehicle on the same platform of other bland boxesthat is also not selling?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

The same money (or less) buys you a lovely German EV, a reliable Korean EV or an American EV that comes complete with its own public charging infrastructure.forgotmyname said:Puzzled why when the Mac E didn't sell why they thought lets release another electric vehicle on the same platform of other bland boxesthat is also not selling?
No-one goes to Ford for an expensive car. Their only hope is to bring some nostalgia into the mix and try to convince a segment which has both money and a very foggy memory that it might be nice to drive a Capri again.0 -
Not sure I will be swapping my 3 any time soon, not sure it will have the same road presence as a nice 2.8 or Mk1 3.0.
Lost opportunity I think, but it was a bigger crime what they did with the mustang badge, maybe they have been taking ideas from MG.0 -
The new Capri is basically a Ford Explorer, and that car is basically a Volkswagen. Well, sort of… Beneath the surface of both the Explorer and the new Capri lies Volkswagen’s MEB platform and powertrains, which you may be familiar with from the ID.3, 4, 5, Skoda Enyaq and the rest. Ford agreed a tie-up with Volkswagen a few years back, so that VW now uses Ford bits for its commercial vehicles, and Ford uses VW bits for its electric passenger cars, in an effort to cut development and manufacturing costs. And that’s why we have a Capri that isn’t a Capri.
So Ford have not even designed their own EV platform..Life in the slow lane0 -
This one? https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1685338 If I was paying near £50K for a classic I'd need 1) somewhere to keep it under cover 2) a boring modern car to go to the tip/ garden centre/ supermarket in.MouldyOldDough said:

The MK0 from the early 60s was even better!facade said:This is a proper Capri*, you can see the resemblance
*Like 99% of cars, the Mk1 is by far the best looking, and usually the best put together too, before the bean counters made cost savings improvementsTall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
