  • Hi all, first time poster, long time browser. Been eyeing up bank switches for quite some time but never taken the plunge so thought I'd give this Barclays one a go. Applied for bank account though the app, accepted, all went through and got a message on the app that my account was up and running however I now cannot access the app. It says I need to register and the only way that seems to be able to happen is if I wait for my card to come through. I've read other posters say they completed everything including the switch in 10 mins. Just wondering if I've done anything wrong??
  • "You do not need the card pin (which Barclays set) to access the app… you need the access passcode (which you set) to access the app., "

    Well, it was required to log into the account throught the app., when I tried numerous times, along with that five digit p.i.n. which I had set used. I know a bank sets up card p.i.n.s
    One of the options to set up online access was the  "Membership Number", this one 201024320859. Also a memorable word which was never part of my application. Therefore I couldn't provide it.
    Why would two separate C.S. reps give me incorrect information re the card p.i.n.? Why would one tell me they had ordered a new card reader?
    Receiving that text message a few minutes after closing the account demonstrates they have trouble differentiating between backside and elbow!
    It's all irrelevant now anyway unless the account hasn't actually been closed.

     I opened the account yesterday started my switch and paid in £800 all via the app.

    There was no email confirmation.

    Today I was getting Barclays app error code 00002.

    Googling it mentioned re-installing the app, so  did.

    I now need to register the app and i need my card number or an activation code which I don't have.

    Anyone else had this happen?

    Yes it happened to me the dreaded 00002 error it happens a lot apparently. Wait for the activation code to arrive.

    Yes that's fine, it's only the basic account that doesn't get the intensive.

    Is the Barclays bank account good for the switch, Martin indicated when he first spoke of this a few weeks ago as it was okay or the premium one otherwise, the the quoted above seems to indicate otherwise?

    How long does one have to apply for the Blue rewards account, does one need to apply for Blue rewards straight away after applying for the bank account or can it be a week or month later? Thanks for any helpful advice?

    Do it immediately or asap as it’s a condition of the incentive £175

    There are three current accounts Barclays offer, the Basic account, the Barclays account & the Premier account. The latter two qualify for the bonus, the Basic one doesn't.
    The normal everyday account isn't they same as the basic one.
