    Okay Folks, a lot of wrong information regarding this account opening process via the app. Just off the phone to Barclays Tech Support.

    After opening the account,  like me the next day you may not be able to access it via the app again, it will give you an error code.

    You then need to wait till you receive your bank card in the post ,  then re-install the app again and register it using your new card number.

    You will also get posted a card pin number it is for shops, cash machines etc.

    Hope this makes it clearer for others.

    Well, it was required to log into the account throught the app., when I tried numerous times, along with that five digit p.i.n. which I had set used. I know a bank sets up card p.i.n.s
    One of the options to set up online access was the  "Membership Number", this one 201024320859. Also a memorable word which was never part of my application. Therefore I couldn't provide it.
    Why would two separate C.S. reps give me incorrect information re the card p.i.n.? Why would one tell me they had ordered a new card reader?
    Receiving that text message a few minutes after closing the account demonstrates they have trouble differentiating between backside and elbow!
    It's all irrelevant now anyway unless the account hasn't actually been closed.

    You set you PIN up at the start of the app registering process. It's a 5 digit PiN
    The pin it asks for is your card pin and is 4 digits, I'm having the same issue and to date Barclays have not sent the card pin in the post.

    Oh, and the hold time when phoning them is ridiculously long. e.g. 16 minutes after navigating the menus.
    I'm in the same position regarding the pin. You will be able to set up and login to the desktop website. I have done this successfully.

    I tried opening an account on the website which said:

    ”Sorry, an error has prevented opening an account online. Please try again later. If this error continues, please get in touch with us”

    Not very wrong at all as that was the process during the application. It would be a bit random to just make that up 😄 I had a straightforward application, it sounds like you haven’t. I’m clearly not the only person who has applied for this account. It’s easy for others to verify that as part of the application Barclays advise the pin is accessed in the app…

    but as I see you’ve closed your account now as you’ve been having issues with them. 

    The application, using the app. was straightforward. The application was accepted and the account set up. Subsequently I couldn't access the account via the app.. Attempted to register for online banking without success. I only knew the account no./sort code from the debit card. 
    The "letter" the card was stuck to advised that the p.i.n. will follow. The C.S. rep. said the p.i.n. is posted and should arrive about two days after the card. She said it was posted on the 12th. 
    Also there should be a "Welcome Pack" through the post. Not received that either. Yes, the p.i.n. will be accessible in the app., but the p.i.n. is needed to log in, along with other information including the 5 digit account access p.i.n.. Catch 22.
    She could access the account, I couldn't for whatever reason. "Memorable word", no, never asked to set that up during the application. I did have to submit Mother's Maiden Name which has been requested when phoning. Membership number, never received that. Only provided by a previous C.S. rep..
    Do they provide a card reader? P.I.N. Sentry? I should have been sent that too. Not received.
    Therefore, according to the information I was given, the card p.i.n. is posted.
    Something obviously went drastically wrong with my application process.
    It would appear that you may have been misinformed by the Barclays c.s rep which is unfortunate. You do not need the card pin (which Barclays set) to access the app… you need the access passcode (which you set) to access the app., which others on here have confirmed to you also.

    Given the rep said the pin was posted on the 12th… did you receive it?  As others have verified, the pin is accessed via the app and not posted. 

    There is no Welcome Pack… they send the card and that’s about it.

    not sure what membership number you are referring to? What does this access? 

    Are you making assumptions about needing a card reader?…that is quite random. You didn’t receive one as they aren’t required…

    Either way… looks like Barclays have been giving you wrong information unfortunately…
     
    You do need the card pin if you get the dreaded "Barclays app error code 00002." which many people including myself get. If this happens you have to delete the app and reinstall it. You then have to re-register in the app, part of this re-registering requires you to provide your card number AND the pin.
    If the pin is only stored in the App and not posted I'm sure you can see the obvious problem?
    You can register for the desktop version but requesting your pin there provides a "pin not available for this account" message!

    Update: I just got the text, so that confirms: the £800 doesn’t have to be in a single transaction or all in the account at once. I figured that was the case, but good to know.
