Aren’t cars for the EU and cars for the UK essentially diff spec already?
One very obvious feature springs to mind1 -
They are not pulling out of Europe, but they are pulling all their ICE models from that market.MouldyOldDough said:

What difference will this make to servicing costs?
I have a Suzuki

They have been for some time. There's so much traffic, the roads are in terrible state, and fuel costs a fortune.
I'm not that old and remember just going for drives for fun, but that was before speed cameras were a thing.

I have a SuzukiThey are actually gradually killing all their ICE cars for Europe, and introducing a new range of EVs (that don't exist yet) in 2025. They have immediately stopped the Swift Sport, Ignis and Jimny. They are supposed to be continuing the swift and the Vitara.Dealers have been told that the ships currently at sea have the last of these cars, when they are gone they are gone. Most likely dealers will take on an additional franchise that can provide new cars to sell (insider info is that some have already been approached by Chinese manufacturers), but keep the servicing going. The sort of good news is that residuals of the desirable cars like my Jimny, and the Swift sport will rise even higher. (WBAC are still offering more for my 2019 Jimny than I paid for it new!)I'd imagine Maruti India will supply spares even if Japan shifts all production to EVs.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

There are some changes needed to go from LHD to RHD, but I'd expect all of the sensors, electronics and software to be identical.
But yeah, whilst you have UK spec, cars, you still want to keep the changes minimal even if it's just to simplify testing and stock systems.

I'm not sure which obvious feature @LightFlare is thinking of, but not all EU countries are LHD.Herzlos said:LightFlare said:Aren’t cars for the EU and cars for the UK essentially diff spec already?

Edit: I agree that manufacturers want to keep as much of the car the same as possible, no matter which country it's being built for - even having software features which are enabled for only some countries adds much more complexity in terms of testing, rolling out updates, etc.0 -
The opinion of one man (Robert Baker) in the 1700s that fewer sounded nicer, which has somehow become a "rule" of language despite people using less for countable nouns for centuries before. Fewer is not correct, less is not incorrect, both can be usedCar_54 said:

Possibly because less people are obeying the rules of the road. For a start, I certainly see a lot more drivers running red lights than ever before (although that is probably a cause of a very small number of fatal collisions) and the use of phones and other devices by drivers is definitely increasing again.Hoenir said:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Cheaper in real terms than it was in the past. Cars have better fuel consumption too. As a consequence people travel further more often.Herzlos said:MouldyOldDough said:I think that we can all agree that the days of driving for fun are now just about gone?

And fewer accidents too. Depends how "fun" you find it to hit other things though.Hoenir said:

Surely you are mistaken to say that "Fewer is not correct"?Nasqueron said:

Don't you meant that both "fewer" and "less" are equally acceptable?
