My car has auto braking, it operated when a learner driver decided to stop on the slip road of a dual carriageway just as my wife was accelerating up to speed, fortunately the driver behind was paying attention and managed to stop in time before he hit us though I doubt he had any modern safety system fitted to his car as it was an older model0

You can disable it but it'll re-enable any time you restart the car.

This will be a feature on any EU market car, and I think we agreed to follow the EU rules anyway so even the few cars still made in the UK will have these features.

I think the issue is that whether the UK follows the rules or not, manufacturers (both in the UK and in Europe) are not going to make two different specs of cars, one for sale in the UK and one for sale in the EU. That's OK so long as drivers who don't fancy the idea of (say) their brakes being applied harshly without their consent can disable the feature.

Meanwhile Suzuki have pulled out of selling cars in the EU, probably one hoop too many when their main market is Asia Pacific. The ships en route to the UK are the last ones.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

I appreciate that. The response was more around people thinking they had to retrofit older cars,All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
