well, i used city Las Vegas 10 miles, and this is what I got, strange, but thanks

I had a look and if I put in the city I get the same thing...but if I put in the zipcode, I get several additional restaurants...how odd!

okay with 2009 fast approaching , it's time to make a small decision on the thread

    do we
    1. leave the thread unchanged and continue on as is
    2. OR make a fresh start and archive this thread as 2008 and then start a new thread ( with the guide at the front again of course) for 2009.
i.'m on favor of option 2 as it means the thread is less daunting for people new to it , if there are not 1000's of post's to wade through. everything will remain the same with chats and discussions going on as before , it just the post count and hit count will be reset to reflect that this is now 2009.

I agree with you...I think that the thread does get a bit overwhelming to newcomers by the end of the year so starting new each year seems to make sense...you put a link to the 2007 thread in this one, so perhaps you would do the same again for those who were inclined to review the previous one?

Thanks for all your work on this, Trets!

yip, option 2 for me as well :)

quick heads up for those going in 2009, you can get the following good exchange rates (based on current market) - of course, these may continue to rise, or may drop again... (so probably worth buying a few 100 and seeing what happens) :)

rates will change throughout the day, but as of now:
    1.5450 @ www.fairfx.com
get a free card from here: http://www.fairfx.com/opodo/home/

and, for those going in April
    1.5674 @ https://www.crowncurrencyexchange.com/content/us-dollars.asp

    here you go stoneman:

(I did a search by zipcode 89109, then changed it to 10miles... second page :) )

I had another look as was really perplexed - Austin's is listed with North Las Vegas as the city - so maybe that's why it doesn't come up with a city search of Las Vegas.

I would go with Option 2 for next year's thread too.

I actually think this thread could be done with its own forum and topics within it as there is so much good info in here.

Good point luci.......separate topics in the Vegas forum for hotels, flights, shows, food, car rental etc would be a great idea. Would make it way way easier for newbies to wade through as theres so much in here.

Volunteer needed to split up existing thread......... ;)

    yeah right .

having a few sub threads on for example Car Hire and The Grand Canyon seems like a good idea for 2009 , but i have no idea how to put them into a new thread. if anyone does please post.

Another vote for Option 2, and the suggestion of a Vegas board with separate threads is very good.

Big thanks to trets for all his work on here and to everyone else for their contributions.
