Any help appreciated please-first visit to vegas dec 14-21 so tried looking at direct booking at ballys hotel website mid-strip for 1 room for 2 people and cheapest was standard guest room i think with seperate beds which i want came in at $493.77 inc tax which is about £332.00 and then tried comparision site kayak which said ebookers.com was the cheapest and that came in at £268.86 inc tax for same dates etc but as said earlier by ferf1223 its best to try hotels direct first so am i doing anything wrong here with my calculations with seeming ebookers been £60 plus cheaper
are those dates inclusive it is $439 inc taxes here.https://www.harrahs.com/SelectRoom.do# but that is still more than third party sites. It does look a great deal for when you want to go, I have just checked a week at Ballys in march on ebookers and it comes out at £800. If you def want Ballys I would book it, there are some other cheaper deals on there to ie, Imperial palace (mid strip) and some of the cheaper hotels like the strat etc0 -
I *think* that if you book thru a third party, your chances of a $20 trick reduce significanty......you are on their bargain bucket bulk rate and they are therefore less inclined to give you a bigger upgrade.illegitimi non carborundum0

I have never advocated a 3rd parrty bookings but at those prices it looks the best thing to do.0 -
OK, heres another one to throw at you (you will regret ever asking on here)
If you really fancy a helicopter trip, want to say you have been to the grand canyon, fly over the strip on the way back, then go for the west rim trip. A Lot cheaper than the south rim, we did it, and although it's not as awe inspiring as some think, without anything to compare it to we thought it was cool. I am notoriously hard to please ( I think the Hover Dam is kinda small)!! You get a 50 minute chopper ride each way which is neat in itself, you fly over Hover Dam, lake Las Vegas, and lake Mead, get to see the Colorado River, land down in the Canyon for a glass of champagne (although not as good the South Rim I am told) then if you book your trip for the last one of the day, you will get a twilight strip flight thrown in. As I understand it will be pretty cold at the South rim this time of year anyway. I agree with sturll (must be coming down with something) if I was to spend lots of money on the SR trip, I would want to go right down into the Canyon and actually do something. The time of year is the reason we decided not to go when I asked the question earlier in the week.
Hey stoneman... i am definately glad I asked the question on here... it is good to get various peoples' opinions. I tend to agree with exactly what you said above. Out of the 8 of us that are going to Vegas 4 of us are keen to book now.
On viator.com we can all book the same trip, at the same time for a good price. The chances of all 8 of us finding availability for the trip we want to do, all at the same kind of time when we are out there is quite slim I think. I will see what they all say later on tonight!!! Really hoping I can bring them round to my thinking, if not I think I might just book it for the 4 that want to. Saves the hassel of when we are out there

Marchwhat may be happening is that the 3rd party deals are becoming good value because the £ is dropping like a stone against the $ , and these deals were priced up when you had a good exchange rate.
I agree that that could be happening and could be swinging things the other way.
I think we've always said that if you find a rate you're happy with, can't find anything to beat it and want to lock in (i.e. not worry about looking around for better deals) - then go for it.
We gamble, so booking with a 3rd party doesn't make sense for us as we wouldn't qualify for room comps if we booked through a 3rd party. But if that's not a consideration and prices do seem to be cheaper through a 3rd party then go for it.
Mike - one thing to note though is that bed types are not guaranteed. They have rooms with one king sized bed (it's the size of Texas, we say) and two queens (about the size of a UK king)...they won't guarantee you will get your choice, but I think you're more likely to get 2 queens than a king - king is our preference and on occasion we've had to settle for 2 queens...so my assumption is that there are more queen rooms than king.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
If you use the 2 cent Tuesday for Bally's a standard room 14-21 Dec is $440

Hiya,
we are looking to go back to Vegas in Feb, do you think it would be better to book the flights and hotel separate or both as a package from a website or travel agent?
does anyone know of any good deals that are around?
