Maylynspower, if I were you I would take both of the books back. you will not get a better travel guide to Vegas than can be found on the first page of this thread, then by just using the search feature on anything of particular interest to you.:T :T
Try a stay downtown if you don't mind slumming it a bit. Not meant as a dispersion but that is the real Vegas and is not as [STRIKE]ripoff[/STRIKE] glitzy as the strip. You will have a great time. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Yeah I know but I cant carry my desk PC with me to look at the maps:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

You only need one street, and that can be coppied off of the first post:DThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Hi again
OK , now im overwhelmed
We booked thr flights las tnight - we go on the 26th of NOV for a week on the TC flights from manchester.
CC/Ex/Lux/LVH are all a cab ride or a long walk away from the FSM.
The cheaper hotels mid strip are Imperial Palace, Flamingo. Bally and Harrahs sometimes have good deals. Ballys your week most days are $59, with Sat a great $69.
Monte Carlo starts at $50 for your dates. Harrahs at $45. Remember the weekend costs more everywhere. IP from $30.....but you pays your money, you takes your chances there.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
MarchWill there be snow end of November do you think?
Around the 30 quid mark they are all pretty much there around the 3* - thats circus circus/ excalibur/ luxor/ las vegas hilton/ stratosphere etc.
Snow is a possibility that time of year - we moved a November trip to October due to the chance of snowfall at the GC as the trip was to incorporate a visit...don't think any of us can say whether or not it WILL snow.I am sure I've read that if it does snow, there's a good chance you'll be stuck for awhile.
As for hotels, I agree with Froggitt - if you can, stay mid-strip...I think that Bally's rate is brilliant...though it's a bit over £30/night at the current exchange rate, it's excellent value for money...also, I hope you're looking direct with the hotels and not through a 3rd party?
I don't mind Excalibur myself - prefer it overall to Luxor but many will disagree. You will be far south strip, but if you'll have a car or don't mind walking and it's a significant savings then I wouldn't count it out. We rarely took taxis when it was our home base and walked most places as there's so much to see along the way. I would count Stratosphere, Circus Circus and the Hilton out - the first and last are not convenient to much of anything and CC is kind of a terrible place.
Edited to add that Bill's (across the street from Bally's, much smaller hotel that gets pretty good reviews) has rates from $47 during your dates, but Friday is quite pricey).
Also, you'll be there for Thanksgiving!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Craig - I think in that coupon book I sent you there was at least one coupon for GC heli tours - so that's the sort of coupon that will be available in Vegas. I don't personally think that they are any better deals than you can get online before you go but haven't looked into it extensively. As there are so many of you, maybe calling the company of your choice and asking if there would be a discount for 8 would be the better way to go about it? If the helicopters only hold 6, you will need at least 2...but what if there's only one or two spare seats available in each? Then you're looking at 4 or more...I have to think that it's going to be quite difficult to get all 8 of you going about the same time, especially as you aren't looking at a simple fly-by...if you all want to experience it together, I think booking in advance makes a lot more sense. But if you call you can at least talk through the situation with the operator - they may say it won't be a problem to accomodate you close together, or they may suggest advance booking. Of course they may suggest advance booking even if it wouldn't be necessary - but at least you can ask.
Hi Ferf
Yeah, there are about 3 or 4 different coupons in the book you sent through for the GC. They all work out about $300+ which in todays exchange rate is well over £200 thats why I would like to book before - viator for £173 seems like a good price.
I am meeting up with my mates saturday night to discuss the Vegas trip but with it only being just over a week til we go (24th November) its gona be my last chance to try to pursuade them to book now!! Don't think there is much chance of us getting on trips at the same times whether we book before or not now anyway! Also, I don't want to keep banging on about it to them and fall out!!
Viator seems like a good company to go through though and i have read that the just Sundance where the same trip book direct through them is around $400+ .0 -
MayI didn't see a delete button when I realised my error.
Think we will give GC a miss, its as far away as LA and when gave Mrs. Stoneman the choice of either looking at some rocks or screaming on some rides, there was no competition (not that I tried to sway the decision by my wording in any way);)The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
