Hi - we are going to Vegas on the 19th March for 2 weeks to stay with friends who live there part time.
We are hiring a car and would like to take a road trip for 4 or 5 days whilst we are with them to give them a break from visitors!:D

We have a few ideas but it is quite hard to get a feel for the distances so here are a few things we have come up with....
    1. Bryce Canyon and the Zion National park
    2. Palm Springs
    3. San Francisco (maybe a stretch in that time).
    4. Yosemite

We have already been to LA and are in no rush to go back there or Southern
    California.

With all the knowledge here I was wondering what other people think/ have done/ or would advise.:A

Any input would be gratefully received.

I have found a website called Road trip America which is good but I always find personal experience is always more helpful.

    Thanks

    Lesley.

PS There will be 2 of us and no kids.

Yosemite is beautiful; 3 days in Vegas was enough for me and Yosemite was the perfect tonic :)

Am in Vegas for 6 nights in March after booking LITERALLY the cheapest flights I've ever seen with Opodo which is part of a package with rooms at Circus Circus (in the tower). has anyone stayed here and is it ok? Am tempted to just use the flights and book somewhere else, but do resent paying for somewhere and not using it... Or shall we stay there a few days and book some real luxury for the last few nights? Leave on a wednesday so should be able to get a good deal for the last two nights...
    THanks

    HOw cheap??

CC is great value if you are paying about $40/£20 a night, which it is often available for, but it is full of kids , a bit tired looking and a long way from the centre strip.

Parts of March can be relatively expensive - will really depend on your exact dates as to whether you can get a good deal the last two nights...will also depend on what you consider to be a good deal.

I know plenty of people who have been satisfied with CC, though it's certainly not luxurious - as a place to get a few hours sleep and a shower I am sure that it is fine. We would probably not stay there ourselves as we are not the most kid friendly people on the planet. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

For two of us flying from Manchester flights with rooms at circus circus inc. food, came to £790, not bad I thought! booked it a while ago though before I came across this site (sorry!) Flights aren't direct but have a 14 hour stopover in New YOrk (yes we are allowed out of the airport though) on way there are three hours in Atlanta on way home. Neither of us mind flying though so hopefully won't be a problem. THink we'll stick with CC as the place to stay and save money for the shopping in New York!

Tell me that isnt £790 each! if it is for both of you it is not a bad price. When in march are you going we leave on the 20th
  • No £790 for the two of us. Leave on the 26th March for 6 nights...
  • Hi can someone give me some advice on flights in early August, they are currently £650 economy and £1095 Premium economy. How much should i be looking at paying in August? when is the best time to buy flights? I haven't even started looking at hotels yet as it's a bit to early i think or could a hotel + flight deal work out cheaper?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

  • hey guys..whats the deal with gettin cheaper flights? we're looking at going september (18th - 26th...flexible tho) and checked with virgin, bmi and thomas cook...cheapest we could find was £480. how are people finding these £350 flights? do we have to go down the airmiles route with virgin?

is it a case of leaving it till the last minute? taking the gamble, and waiting til aearly august?
