going to vegas for first time and looking to treat OH while we are away there, does any one know if there is anywhere in vegas where we could hire for day or two a porshe or lamborghini or ferari while we are there

    Thanks:beer:

I've not done it myself and as photome mentioned you will see a couple of places on the strip.

Not sure if they are the same companies as these:

    http://www.dreamcarrentals.com/

    http://www.exoticcarrentalslasvegas.com/exoticsportscars.html

And I meant to say - not sure if the places you will see on the strip are less expensive because OUCH!

    Hi
Going to vegas on my stag do in july 08. 8 of us are going on the trip. Signed up to virgin flying club and trying to buy miles as suggested on this thread. Its saying the service is not available at moment is this because I have no miles? Whats the cheapest way to get miles to get started?
Can you tell me if july flights would be eligible for the flights/miles offer?
The best we have come up with at the moment is a package for four nights £750 approx p/person can anyone help?

Looks like I could be the first MSE member at the Palazzo! :D

Just booked 2 nights 4 & 5 May on Priceline so that's me sorted for all 12 nights.

Not keen on the reviews on TA, but hope that we don't need to use the services much as that seems to be the main complaint.
Oooh exciting. Would be very interested to hear about your time there if you wouldn't mind when you get back. The Trip Advisor reviews all sound to me like teething problems, opening too early. I think it is a really good price if they get it sorted out. How much did you get the room for? I may have to book another one as friends are deciding whether to come with us. Which other hotels are you booked for? I still have two nights in LV to book.:j
There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.

Bit confused by their internet access. I'm sure it says on their site that it's complimentary and yet one of the reviews says it's $9.95 for 24 hours.

Has anyone used in room internet access in Vegas? I only want to use it for one 24 hour period per stay at 4 hotels, but wonder how they work it. Do they give you a code that's only good for 24 hours? I won't be using it if I have to have it for the full stay.

Did you post your winning bid on BetterBidding

Interesting - I wonder if that means that they've changed the online system then?

I would think that signing up for the Virgin Atlantic credit card might work...though I am not sure if they would knock you back on miles+money fares as the miles you would have would not be earned by flying with them.

The VA credit card is currently offering:

You will earn 3,000 Flying Club miles if you make your first debit transaction using your Virgin Atlantic Credit Card (or 6,000 Flying Club miles if you have a fee card) within 90 days of your account being opened. The Flying Club miles will be credited to your Flying Club account within 30 days of your statement date. If you have not provided MBNA with a valid Flying Club membership number at the point your statement is generated, Virgin Atlantic will not be able to allocate Flying Club miles to your account. If you have not made a debit transaction within 60 days of applying for your card we reserve the right to vary the level of bonus Flying Club miles we allocate to you.

    http://uk.virginmoney.com/vaa-amex/white-more-info.html

So there is a timing element to consider as m+m fares are limited in number. Also, you would only earn 3000 miles, so not enough for 2 m+m fares per account. I suppose if everyone who is going signed up, qualified, purchased something, waited for the miles to credit and then booked flights it might work, but only if the m+m seat allocation wasn't sold out by then.

I checked a random week in July and m+m fares are about £550. Regular fares that same week are about £650....can't say for sure about your exact dates but one of us can check if you give exact dates.

Personally, with 8 of you going I would probably not go through that much hassle on the credit card only to possibly find out that there are not enough m+m seats left for you, or prices have gone up, etc.

Not sure if the package you are looking at has flights with Virgin?

Worked for me just now- though I didn't buy as it is not very economical IMHO

    Have a look at V-Flyer Faq's

You can earn 3K miles with the CC

You earn 3K with Virgin wine
    3,000 miles Welcome Offer!

Sensational earn and spend deals with Virgin Wines.

    - 3,000 miles earned when you place your first order.
    - 750 miles earned for every repeat order placed
Though both these options take time to get to your account (months, not days )

Virgin Miles + Money do not really save you much if you buy the miles.

2000 miles cost you £45 and will save you about £100 on your flights. So effectively you save about £50.00

    Every little helps I suppose.

I got the Palazzo for £100/night ($195) which I'm happy with as those nights were really expensive for every hotel that I've been checking for weeks and I thought I was going to end up paying $150 for a round of the mill hotel.

Keep wondering if I could have got it cheaper seeing as my first bid was accepted. However I looked at Better Bidding AFTER I'd bid (I know, I know) and people were getting bids rejected and getting couter offers of $188 which isn't a lot of difference. I've only tried Priceline once before and all my bids were rejected.

I am staying at the Imperial Palace for 3 nights including the weekend at $39/$119/$119, MGM for 4 nights at $69 with one night free, $25 restuarant/bar credit and 2 free drinks at the West Wing bar, then back to the IP for 3 nights at $39/$119/$119. With the savings I'm making on the first 10 nights I'm more than happy with the Palazzo deal. I mean it's a brand new 5 star hotel with twice daily housekeeping, turn down service, electric curtains, two 42" flat screen TV's and a 17" TV in the bathroom.

I called them this morning re the internet and it's only free on specific packages, otherwise it's $10/day.

Time for another daft question, if you don't mind. I've just been through the link for the Mirage that Trets posted above and have found that the rate for our 3 night stay at The Mirage has dropped since booking it a week ago by $12 in total. (Hardly a vast amount I know.)

I've just gone to try to access our reservation on-line to see if there was an option to see it I could e-mail the hotel and ask for the lower rate or to cancel it so I could rebook it at the slightly cheaper rate and it is saying that the reservation cannot be looked up online. Is this standard or should I be worried? Would it be worth ringing them to get the ever so slightly cheaper price? (At what price drop do people decide to alter their booking?)

    TIA

Mardrew (a bit of a worrier!)

PS After reading about people's success using Priceline to get the Palazzo I could really fancy the luxury of that hotel but don't think I would get it for a similar amount to what I'm paying for The Mirage. (We've got the first 4 nights at The Signature.) Might think about that one. I've never used Priceline before and might be scared of mucking up!

Have you seen this guide ?

As you already have your reservation you have the luxury of bidding for only 5* properties at an easy pace and within your price you have paid for the Signature.

As the Palazzo is new their PL prices are low so it could be a good time to get a bargain.

Sign up to BetterBidding and ask for a strategy, it could be a good leraning curve for another holiday if not this one!
