    May
We are going to Vegas on 24 April and will be hotel hopping as usual to take advantage of offers.

We are staying the first 3 nights at the IP then the MGM for 4 nights with one night free. Then it's back to the IP for 3 nights as I really grudge the rates most hotels are charging.

I was hoping to go somewhere like the Bellagio or the Venetian for the last 2 nights if I got a decent offer, but the way things are going I could see us extending the IP to 5 nights.

The rates for 4 & 5 May (Sunday & Monday) are really high. Most of the offers seem to end on 30 April, but even the ones that go into May aren't good.

This is the 3rd year that we'll be in Vegas at that time and I've always managed to get decent rates before even with the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo and a big fight all being on. It's not even as if it's over a weekend.

I check Fat Wallet regularly as well as a couple of other site and would expect the offers to be out now with only 10 weeks to go.

If anyone spots a decent offer for 4 & 5 May I'd appreciate a heads up.

    Thanks.
  • Hi, have had advice from here before but have now booked my flights. I will be going on my own with two kids ages 10 and 7 to S California but want to spend some time in Vegas. Would like to spend one night at the Bellagio but any other deals which would suit, be grateful of news. Been recommended on this thread for the Planet Hollywood. Any other recommendations also gratefully received. I would like to spend about 4-5 days there and can be flexible between the 25 May to 12 June. Is it cheaper in May rather than leaving it to the end of my time there? Many thanks.
There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.

I swear I replied to this but it hasn't shown up. That is fantastic! Amazing how these little things can make us so happy. :)

Thanks trets for the pm, now since then one of our friends who works within travel/holidays has got us a few deals which are,
    Date: 16th Sept
    Flight: Virgin,
    Accommodation: NY NY/Mirage/Planet Hollywood/MGM all 7 nights
    Price: £930 - £960

Do they sound good deals to you or anyone who has been at that time of the year?
Also which out of the 4 listed hotel would you choose to stay at, as we were finding it difficult to distinguish which is the better as they all seem very alike other than location??
Bit confused on Planet Hollywood, because as far as i can make out it was opened last year, wish it originaly known as Alladin? Now did they totally rebuild or just refurbish through the original hotel alladin, and put on a new face to the alladin hotel, as im reading quite mixed reviews about PH at the moment. Ive read that some ppl went in believing they were getting a spanking freshly designed room only to have an old Alladin room? so is this an on going refurbishment plan or has PH totally be finished?

Is that price for 2, or per person? if it is per person then IMO you could do it cheaper.

The PH is the old Alladin but if I went there and got an old Alladin Resort room overlooking the foluntains I would not be disappointed, they are fantastic rooms ( I dont know if they have finished refurbing it, you could ring the hotel and ask.1p per minute).

I prefer the PH to the MGM (to big) and because of the position..I love the fountain view. Cant comment on the other 2 as I havent stayed at them.

Mirage is prob best situated followed by PH and then the other 2 joint 3rd

Alladin was a pretty new build so they have totally re vamped it , and it looks nothing like the old place at all in the Casino. The Alladin was always well reviewed with regards to it's rooms so the fact the have just been refurbished is not a negative IMO.

which one to go for ??? well i doubt you will be unhappy with any of them but best pointers i can give are ( these are just my own personal opinions from what i have seen , have only stayed at NYNY and Mirage )

    MGM Grand ,
+ points . rooms are suppossed to be pretty nice ( others here have stayed i haven't) , very lively casino with lots going on.
    - points . the place is huge ( even by Vegas standards ) reports of a 15 min walk from room to strip are common
    NYNY
+ points . rooms are pretty nice (| ours there was very nice) , again a very lively joint with loads going on , it's not that big ( only 3000 rooms lol) ,
    - points . If a pool is high on your needs list, better looking elsewhere as it one of the smallest on strip .
    Mirage
+ points . A1 location , again very classy casino area with loads of great food and fun things to do .
    - points . Rooms are good but a tiny little bit worn and dated ,
    Planet Hollywood
+ again superb location , very new and loads of fun inside ,
    - points. have heard a few grumbles about standard of room cleaning , but it was probably just a one persons opinion.

to be perfectly honest though , standard of rooms is probably pretty much the same in all. if it were me i would choose the cheapest deal and would be happy staying at any.

looking at a few calanders within various deal links on http://www.vegas-promotions.com/ there does no seem to be much in it.

if you have kids in tow , you might find a themed hotel like the Luxor for example more suitable for you rather than somewhere like Mirage or Mandalay bay ect.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Assuming Virgin from London flights are £546 each for those dates without any sale fare or miles+money deal.

Assuming that those prices are per person with 2 sharing a room that means flights for 2 would be £1092 booking direct and that would leave £768 for hotels for the week (again assuming 2 sharing)...that's $1460 approx...for 7 nights more than $200/night average which seems quite high for those hotels to me unless there's something going on that week (conventions, etc.)

It may not be far off what you can get the hotels for now this far out, but I would think you could get a better deal closer to the date.

It's certainly not a deal I would say is at all special - I think you could put that sort of deal together yourself with the freedom to cancel and rebook the hotel later - and also to open up all the other hotels on the strip so you won't be limited to those 4.
